Do you have any auto shows close by? It’s a good time to compare features all in one place you don’t have to go dealer to dealer. This worked well when my wife was selecting a van.

Have you considered MKX? The 3.7 is a nice engine and they are decently roomy.

Out of the choices you listed I would pick the 4runner, I have no desire to own any of the other ones listed. The only other suvs I’d want would be an rt Durango or a Tahoe but gm thinks those are made of gold.

Do you know how long you want to keep it for or if you will have more kids during ownership of this vehicle?

4Runner will probably have amazing resale and it has the rear window that rolls down.. Makes for a good home improvement store trip vehicle if you don't have a truck.

The best one is the cheapest one that meets your basic needs. It's a soccer mom van after all.

Get a Subaru Outback.

True, it's not an SUV but that is a giant plus in my book.

Good value... high resale... good gas mileage... excellent safety rating... best AWD system (Audi may argue but, IMO, they would lose)... plenty of room... not an SUV... what's not to like?

Yes, most of these “luxury” SUVs are just glorified station wagons anyway. Just get a Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna for hauling kids and related family stuff - much more effective than most SUVs.

To battle the stigma of driving a minivan, repeat this manta: I’ve got a Camaro in the driveway, I’ve got a Camaro in the driveway...

Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, Wrangler, CX-9, CX-5, Durango. Take your pick there are a ton of nice Crossover/SUV's out there, just find the one that suits you. Hell the new Pacifica is nice as hell for a minivan. Makes life with kids easy, but not everyone can do the minivan thing. My wife refused. Make sure you drive and compare all of them. Asking on a forum is always the wrong way to do it, opinions are like assholes everyone has one. Here you will get mostly GM love and shit on other brands, just the nature of the beast. You will be the one making the payments, so the only input should be between you and your wife.

Had my eyes on a few things... Cadillac SRX/Toyota Highlander/4Runner.

Maybe even an Acura MDX or a BMW X3... just soooooo many choices out there.

Basically I am looking for luxury, good for a newborn with great safety ratings.

I WAS looking at GMC Acadia (Denali) but it is subject to only captain chairs and I want to put my infant in the center seat (and I do NOT want a third row) I want storage capability.

So... any recommendations?
Maybe still a little pricier, but luxury, no third row, lots of storage, safety, etc....price is headed in right direction at least...good luck.

Grand Cherokee its highly rated, and I know ours is GREAT! the wife loves it....and NO it doesn't have a 3rd row which gives you a LOT of storage in the back. gets good gas mileage for a SUV (we have the V6 which has plenty of get up and go).
