Good to read all the post following my whinny one I needed some positive words of encouragement. Its been a long road and I look forward to finally getting my car. I think my biggest concern is that I wont get time to enjoy driving it because it seems to me that we may have an earlier winter.

Be prepared for more frustration
I had posted earlier that my wife's car was a 9/21 TPW, mine is a 9/28 and got my VIN yesterday.
![]() I thought I'd share my experience tracking her rail car and some frustration in the 9/21 thread. 1.) When you call, the electronic male voice mispronounces city names. My wife's car was in "Flowers, Indiana." Wikipedia reveals no town by that name. So, I suspect it was really in Fowler, Indiana. Sometime, you just cannot understand what the guy says - even after listening to it 5 times! 2.) Sometimes when you call, the male voice says, "No Status." (You start wondering if something bad has happened to the rail car!) 3.) My wife's rail car is now, and has been at an "interchange" in Illinois for the last two days. So, it moved quickly out of Canada, but now it must be playing musical box cars at an interchange station. 4.) For reference, someone in a different TPW thread reported that it took 4 days once it moved out of the "interchange" to make it to Louisiana. (We're in Oklahoma, so we're guessing that once it gets out of the infinite loop at the interchange, we'll have just 4 more days to OKC.) 4.) Then the real frustration! Apparently, once it reaches the major rail yard in your area, it WILL NOT be placed on a truck until the truck has a completely full load! Folks are able to drive to the rail yard and actually see their car just sitting there! But there is nothing they can do. Dealers can't go get it either. You can just stand behind the fence and stare at your baby. One 9/21 TPW said his has been at the rail yard awaiting truck delivery for 5 days! Wow! The 9/21 folks are guessing about a 2 week delivery time. For us in the south central, we're guessing about 2 weeks just to the rail yard, then, who knows how long to wait on a full truck. That's just my experience with my wife's car and what I've read in her TPW thread. So, be prepared! Last edited by okie2; 10-03-2009 at 07:07 AM. |

I feel like I am on an emotional rollercoaster. One minute I am excited because the car is being built and everybody is getting VIN's and the next I am down because the wait times to get cars seem to be longer than one would expect. I'm hearing about 3 weeks in my area, which seems ridiculous, but I guess we'll see.
I don't have a VIN as of yet, going to check again. The dealer called me last night on my way home to say no news as of yet, but was going in to check on his day off for me tomorrow. Of course he lives 2 miles from the dealership, but I am still glad he will check for me. It is kind of cool to know that my car either came off the line yesterday or will today. Can't wait just to know that this thing is built. |

At this point, I may run screaming for the hills while pulling my hair out! Customer Service says my precious has been produced and that GM has picked it up from the manufacturing facility...my dealer says I am still at 3400...WTF!

Doesn't add up warcopwife. When did you talk to the various parties? The system updates every night, so if you hit up the dealer yesterday and customer service todya it could have changed. I'll keep my fingers crossed that customer service is right and you ride is on the way.

I'm in with Alfie!!!!!!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() Dealer just called and said we had all kinds of movement over night!!! Jumped through 3800 to 4000 and beyond. Mine is now sitting in bayed status, but I believe that is because I am getting stripes on mine. I'm just glad that I know it has been built. Didn't get the VIN from the dealer, he said he was going to fax me everything on monday for my status updates and all, another addition to the camaro folder. Hang in there gang. I know that there will be plenty of updates today and on monday for production.
