What do you mean? It was established they did not drive the cars during the winter? How?

Sux, to me that is not winter. That looks like a nice rainy spring day. Granted it was being road tested and I remember those pictures.

Now were those cars road tested with the original manufacturers top ( the one that went bankrupt) or with the top that went into production.

Oh Dragoneye there you go again. He said it was not any mention of them being driven around in the winter not that he knew they didn't. It is very possible that a large part of the testing was stationary they just didn't think it made a difference. Or not we will never know just chalk it up to one of lifes little mysteries. Now get off you high horse before you fall off!

There have been a number questions and comments here about if the cars were driven with the top down in the winter. Are the top problems related to cold weather or are people just wondering if they did it?

I live in Tampa Florida. Picked up my car on June 11, 2011. By the end of August it was in for a top replacement.

average temperature was probably well into the 80's. Don't think it cold weather related.

At that time, the Service manager looked at it and agreed that it was an issue, but he was waiting for word from GM as to how to proceed.
This was all back in August of '11 I believe.
He finally got the go-ahead from GM to replace my top, ordered it, and after it finally came in they replaced it.
One thing my dealer did, was to talk one of the top's designers into coming in after hours on the designer's own time, to help teach the dealer's tech how to replace the top.
Yes it cost the dealer a good amount of money out of his pocket to have the designer come and show his tech how to do it, but the dealer figured it would pay off in the long run.

Well they did an outstanding job. No more rub marks at all. They did notice during the top install, that the rear passenger corner of the inner lining wasn't quite right, so they ordered that and installed that as well.
And this is why I am willing to drive the 1hr to go to that dealer to get my 2nd replacement done. The selling dealer majorly screwed up my top plus poked 2 holes in the liner. They still haven't called to tell me my headliner was in that they supposedly ordered in October... not a peep from them... not to tell me if it was backordered or anything...

Guys hope on over to that other post. Scott kind of answered my question about driving it in the winter. I just asked if the CTF cars had the original tops from the first supplier or the second one. This could get interesting.

Just retired from playing goal myself a few years ago.Body could not take it anymore.Knees are gone.Already have arthritis amongst other ailments and I have not even hit 50 yet.
I still do play the odd pick up game(as a forward and non contact) and I have also had the pleasure of playing in a charity tournament with the NHL alumni.

I know a little off topic but thanks for pointing me in the right direction
and great question re: test car top supplier.I would be very interested to hear that response.
I still think its odd that some verts are better than others.
I know its a tolerance thing .....but still find it interesting that some basically blow apart and others don't.
But thanks to fbodfather's postings I feel optimistic that GM will strive to make things right.

My body gave out at 19. So much for a promising college career. Finally had my left knee and right shoulder operated on in August of 10. Last week my meniscus in my right knee tore. Looks like I'll be going under the knife again. But I'm not complaining, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
