When you drive a truck every day and all you have to use is your mirrors driving a Camaro is a cakewalk. The backup sensors and or camera is for assistance when backing, you do have to use some common sense and be aware of the dimensions of the car or whatever you are driving.

Obviously I'm not the only one that came to this conclusion after reading his post. In any case if you hop into anything and rely on backup sensors or cameras to guide you then you're a dumbass.

Really? Do you actually drive your car? I love my Camaro and have had it 4 years now but the rear visibility is shite, no question.

Wow all the pros at backing their cars up. Shit happens and yes the visibility on these suck ass I've gotten over it. This will always be a subject we won't agree on. It's too many professionals on here that will rag the crap out of you, hopefully you learned man and machine often fail. That's what insurance is for. I myself always back in because of the visibility of my car, there is none.

Of course it does.

On the one level, it puzzles me why people are so ready to publicly post their (temporary) shortcomings for all to read and comment on. The more the detail, the worse it gets. Dig that hole deep.

But even if it's a well-intended warning (as I suspect this one was trying to be), how it's written will make a big difference.

Contrast this, posted under the emotion of the moment

They dont work when your going to hit something. They work after you back over a black mail box and scratch up your rear end. The fu*King things will tell me there is something across the paking lot but not right behind me. 3am back up cameras good for nothing. mirrors are good for nothing. well we will see how much damage in the morning.
with this

"Guaranteed you'll find situations where the backup camera and sensors are worthless. Think night time without street lights for one, and never mind how I know this."

And leave it at that.

Well put. If the OP had worded his post in such a way, none of the "operator error" type responses would have resulted.

I'm certain Norm wasn't this logical and had this much common sense. Gonna have to starting watching "Cheers" again.

Don't feel bad OP. I hit a flower pot backing up my first camaro. Sensors didn't chime either. Took it as a lesson learned and bought and installed a backup camera for it.

Because someone purchased the car doesn't mean they think it is perfect or that it is without problems.

It is kind of like being married; I don't believe anyone is perfect but you get with the person whose flaws you can live with because the total package makes you happy...
Try the two golf bags again. I felt the same way, but found taking the drivers out I was able to fit two. You can also lay down the back seat and easily fit two in that way. Just some tips from a fellow golfer that made the dealer put a set of clubs in one of these before I ordered the 1LE! I agree with everything else you said. Our Tahoe was bought for a reason, and it does it well, but does other things not so well, and the same can be said for our new Camaro. I may hit something with it someday, and I will be pissed at myself, but not blame the car!

I am a realist, I know the visibility issues and I know you learn to compensate for visibility issues. I know in the 3 1/2 years I have been driving them I have. The pros of this car far outweigh the cons but some people only want to focus on the cons.
This discussion is about the CONS not the pros..
I speak far more about the pros ( the performance, the engine, styling) in other threads.

I like the engine and the retro styling in the Camaro that is it that is why I bought one. I am normally a Ford person and have had far more Mustangs and Cobras than any GM product combined.
This year the Camaro won. the LS3 Engine is far better the Coyote 5.0 in nearly every aspect.

The Mustang/Cobra flat destroy the Camaro in Interior, climate control, premium stereo, technology, and visibility and weight.

However the Camaro has the looks I liked and the LS3 pushrod engine that in my eyes trumps all of that.

Am I disappointed in my car? yes at times very much so.
The AC is flat poor, Visibility is starting to get on my nerves on a daily basis, BA Mylink is flat the WORST POS I have ever owned in a premium system, Interior has issues already the worst being the driver seatbelt is wearing and discoloring the Mohave interior Driver seat where it rubs, the DIC is completely worthless. right hand shock has a HUGE thunk noise when going over speed bumps even at 5 mph.

And yet despite those issues.. every time I get in the car and press that throttle and hear that huge cam a huge grin comes across my face..
the car is FUN.. and I love surprising higher end cars on the strip and on the track.

I am flat NOT exaggerating the car has the worst visibility of any of it's class and even at 6 months and 10k miles I am still having issues with visibility.
No I have not backed into anything but I have curbed the wheels on the right side due to not being able to judge distance over that hood and fenders.

Go drive a Cobra or a 5.0 and a 392 Chally.. both all are far easier to drive and park due to superior visibility.. however the cars are not superior overall and that is why I bought and modded an SS.

Didn't read all 6 pages BUT the sensors should not be relied on. Just like your GPS should not be relied on.

The senors need a certain amount of surface area to detect something.

I don't trust my back up sensors either!

Sometimes I think they are plotting against me. They may be in cahoots with my wife, or possibly a local body shop.
