just a BIG rear view pic no queues. but even it is super hard to see out of especially at night.
I'll have to go back out tonight and see, but I thought mine was fairly good at night (it's been a while since driving it at night). I hope I can get a pic of it then. Stay tuned...

Your "s"ensors worked as designed. They are going to warn you when something is close, but if you're too close to the object already, there isn't much for the sonar to bounce off of. Sonar isn't instant, it does take a second for them to register their surroundings.

Sounds more to me that you need to learn how to drive your car....

The reviews you talk about are of two types:

1) from owners
2) from pro reviewers

In group 1), let's be real, we have a group of people that in general are fairly ignorant of how to even drive. Let's be very honest here, the average new car owner is no ace behind the wheel, even when you go to the realm of 'cool cars' like the Camaro. Actually in general I'd say that the typical new 'cool car' owner today has fairly little clue as to what the car is telling them when it does what it does. Electronic systems have removed a 'need' for the average driver to interact with cars. It's a clinical relationship, where new car owners are expecting the car to do everything for them. Read the threads here if you need proof. And for the past 30 years, everything in new car design has become 'ergonomics' everything is for 'convenience' in new cars. The Camaro is not the "best car' for visibility unless we're talking the convertible, with the roof down. The 'bad visibility' is a myth. It is a myth because while the C-pillars are wide and the rear end is slightly raked up, you have rear-view mirrors firstly, and secondly the issue of visibility is subjective and is being compared and contrasted to other cars that the owners are used to driving. This is the same type of owner that can't believe how "much power" the SS model has. You want real bad visibility? Drive a '69 Corvette hardtop. Drive my old Solstice GXP with the roof up.

But adjust your mirrors correctly, and these problems all but go away.

Group 2) is paid to find things to write about. Hyperbole and exaggeration are meat and potatoes for this group, and sensationalism is their gravy. They are not supposed to write that everything is great, they need down-sides so that they can end up providing "info" for comparisons later. They would never writet that "visibility is acceptable if the driver adjusts mirrors like he's supposed to". First, they don't know f-all about how to drive themselves in most cases. Secondly, that type of talk doesn't 'sell' a review to a publisher or editor. Thirdly, the standpoint is that in new cars, the driver shouldn't have to know how to do that, the car is supposed to do that work for the driver.

If the visibility was "so bad", everyone would be hitting everything, as if they had on blindfolds. A good artist never blames his canvas or brush.

It's my opinion that things like back up sensors, at the end of the equation, make for worse drivers overall. The drivers begin to depend on those systems, and then they run over a mailbox. Same goes for a lot of doo-dads. It removes the need for the driver to think way too much. Familiarity breeds contempt.

Anyway. Want better viability? Great mod, zero dollars: adjust your mirrors the right way.
I respect your opinion, but as someone who has owned a number of sports and muscle cars (Porsche 911, '66 Chevelle SS, 3 Mustang GT etc.) and a number of "regular" cars like my current Saab, I can say that MY opinion is that compared to all of those cars, the visibility in my Camaro stinks. I love the car, but even forward visibility is questionable and side and rear is abysmal.

Adjusting your mirrors doesn't solve the problem as there are huge blind spots.

That said, I don't rely on the backup sensors, I look and the sensors act as a safety net - and they have saved me more than once from obstacles that I was unable to see from the driver's seat.

Exactly same here. 2 Corvettes, 3 Camaros, 3 TAs, 6 Mustangs, a G35 Coupe, and a few I have forgotten for sure. and this thing is by far the worst.

and that is not coming from a hater. I LOVE my Camaro and it will become a 700+hp monster weekend car before it's all over and expect to have it sitting around in 15+ years in the back of my garage for weekends and track days.
It isnt going anywhere. but to flat say that a few adjustments and everything is "perfect" is a flat over site of the cars biggest flaw.
The car even after owning it for 7 months is the biggest feeling little car I have ever owned.
it has more blind spots than a semi.
It is about as fun backing one as a large truck as well.
the front angles as well make parking lot handling a nightmare as you cannot see over the front right fender nor how far it is to the wall due to the hood design.

Drive a semi someday. Especially after learning to parallel park one... You will think the visibility in the Camaro is amazing after that.

Oh, the hyperbole!!

I'm not sure how many responses in this thread have said that everything is "perfect" (as you keep repeating) after adjusting the mirrors, but I don't remember reading any.

No car has perfect visibility. There are always blind spots. Coming from driving a couple of different Hondas, which have pretty good sight lines, the Camaro took some adjusting to.

But I can tell you that after properly adjusting my mirrors so that as things disappear from my rearview mirror they appear in the side mirrors, and as they disappear from the side mirrors they appear in my peripheral vision, that the C-pillar blind spots are essentially negated.

In fact, I've gotten so used to this configuration that driving the other cars now is uncomfortable with the mirrors adjusted the "old way," with the side of the car just appearing in the edge of the side mirror.

As far as the camera goes, it is significantly better than the one in my wife's Odyssey. If they removed the markers from the new models, well, that is just dumb. Don't know why they would do that; I find them very useful.

The ultrasonic sensors I find only marginally useful, but I haven't had occasion to have an object behind me for them to detect. They consistently detect my garage door frame, though.

I have no more issues with forward visibility than I have had with other cars. Going from my Ford Explorer to my CR-V, I found the Honda's mirror to be more obtrusive, but the Camaro's is about the same.

Maybe it's because I drive large vehicles with poor rearward visibility for a living, but the Camaro just isn't that bad, even backing out of parking spaces (for which I find the camera very helpful).

But none of this is really true or logical; I'm just a fanboy spouting off.

I find the backup camera kind of crappy without guidelines but it is useful for backing up to say a parking curb as I can see when to stop. My problem is I am always catching the rubber lip under the front air dam on stuff as I am always closer to things than I think. Yeah the visibility is pretty bad out of this car but it makes me be more careful generally too so I can manage it

I agree with OP that the backup sensors don't always beep when they should so I don't trust them anyways because of that.
