If it saves me a few thousands dollars, it's cheaper for me to fly to Texas and drive it back.

Well, I'm pretty sure it won't happen anytime soon after it's released. They will probably be doing just like everyone else in selling them at MSRP. Personally, I'm going to give it some time (so I can catch up on my finances and pay off the wifes car) but won't hesitate to ask to see if anything can be done sooner. It'll probably have to wait, though.

I'm waiting for the vert so all is well. A few months (like 9) is well after new trend has died down for the coupes and maybe they'll cut me a deal on my vert too. =)

Well, did the whole build a Mustang at Fords site to get the probably final price thing and ended up at about 28$k, but my real top limit would be about 32$k. Especially since it will cost more then that here what with it being an American car and all. Usually it's about 6.5 Swedish Crowns (the Swedish Currency) to each dollar here, but with cars from the US it's usually along the lines of 10 to a dollar. So my real limit in Swedish currency will be about 360,000 Swedish Crownes. Converted back into USD that will be about 56$K. By now I hope some of you see that cars are way cheaper over in the US

I didn't read all the post but the history of pony cars mean "affordable muscle car" so if GM is going to sell this thing for near Vette prices it's a no go for me and a huge disapointment also.
To me, I'd like to see the following: RS 20-22K Z28 25-27K SS 30-34K If they want to sell enough of these that it sticks around, unlike the sad end of the last generation, then the common mid income person should be able to afford at least the Z28. The Z28 should match the Mustang's GT price and beat it's performance (you know, like the good old times...lol) and the top of the line can be 30+ if they want but I wouldn't be a SS buyer anyway so my concern is the Mid V8 version. Like my RX8, I thought I'd never be able to afford one...but I got the deal and the rest is history so I hope I can do the same with the lovely Camaro.

Remember Cubanaso, trim levels haven't been announced yet, and it is just as likely that Z28 will be the top level. Of course, we don't even know if there will be a Z28 and SS at the same time.
I can't imagine the Mustang GT selling for $35K, especially not after the Camaro and Challenger are introduced. With more choices and rising gas prices, severe gouging like that won't really fly. Sure the Camaro will sell for over MSRP when it first comes out (except for the dealers that stick to only MSRP) but eventually competition, improved supply, and decreased demand (after the initial frenzy) will reduce prices. I haven't noticed any LA area dealers charging that much for Mustangs, and I can't see how they can, even though it is the only pony car on the market right now. |

Yeah, I know...who knows if there will be a SS or Z28...speculation, gosh I can't stand it...lol.
The Mustang GT, going by carsdirect.com (which I use as the initial "match this dealer or I walk" LOL) shows the Mustang GT can be had for about 24K without taxes and with the minimal options. So, without knowing if there will be a base-mid-top trim levels (let's assume there is)...I'd say that the Mid level Camaro has to come close to the Mustang GT price while keeping in mind greedy dealerships raising the price. I wont be the first, I wont be getting mine for a good amont of years (SADLY) but I just hope that I can get a V8 in that beast without breaking the bank. Truly guys, because of raising gas prices and because I've never owned a V8 I want this beast to be my last car. Maybe one day I'll get something else because I have to, but I'd keep this beast as a weekend fun car in the least. Like I did with the RX8, I worried I wouldn't be able to get one...so I worry now with the Camaro, but since I have TONS of time to work with I wont worry much. Like you all....I can't wait for the details!!!!

Yeah Cubanaso, I have to wait a few years too, probably until at least summer of 2011. The comfort is that at least by then the dealer markups will have died down.

Sam here guys, just realised the other day that if I'm not to die of boredom at work I'll have to get studying the next fall and do that for two years. After that I'll most likely not afford it until 2011 or so. Just hope the basic exterior stays the same for a while, because I'd like to buy a new one.
Or I could just hope I win the lottery
