I had my blower motor replaced at 15,000 miles, now I am 45,000 miles and it is starting to do it again. I really do not want to take to the dealership but I just might have to. Ever since my warranty went out they really do take care of me like they uset to. I even bought a bumper to bumper warranty for 75,000 miles hopefully this will be covered in it.

Very possible, though it sounds more like a worn bushing given the very high pitched squeal. For me, if I have the fan on low and take a moderate-hard right hand turn, it kicks this thing off...

The HAVC fan squeal started on mine a month or so ago and has since gone away. If this comes back and I need to get the motor replaced I was curious what needed to come apart for this job.

Do they still need to take the whole dash off to make this repair or is there a way to get at it without all this trouble? Personally I'm not sure I would be comfortable getting this fixed if the whole dash needs to come off. That seems like a recipe for squeaks and rattles down the road.

TWO-SOLUTIONS FOR NOISES:

1) TAKE IT FOR REPAIR WORK (WARRANTY OR CASH), OR
2) TURN UP YOUR SOUND SYSTEM AND AVOID THE NOISES.

Angry Claim in now

Hey guys,
I have had this problem for a while now. The blower motor has been replaced two times, and the noise is still there. I recently had another dealership look at it, and they confirmed that the blower motor has gone out again. For giggles, I took it to an independent repair shop, and he has informed me that the dealer apparently has cracked the entire fan mounting cage during replacement. I am so pissed, since he said that it is some major work to replace that cage portion. I am now waiting on Chevrolet customer service to work with me. I believe that with the cage cracked, I am going to always have problems with blower motors. The dealer said they couldn't replicate the problem twice, and it is really another dealer and repair shop immediately found the problem. I am actually thinking about getting the lawyers involved with this one....

Had mine replaced, and it looks just like the pictures above (nice shots). Nice hacks these guys are eh? New fan makes noise too, so has to be a run of bad part.

Can someone who has NOT had this work down just take a quick shot of the underdash area of the passenger footwell? I don't remember what it looks like and wondering if there was a cover over the motor area?

One thing I tried to reproduce this is to access the blower cage from the filter side and move the cage slowly with your finger. Often these bushings will make a louder noise when going that slow and it will be easy to record/show.

The cure is worse than the disease! Turn the fan speed up, play heavy metal, and Fuggetaboudit.

Thing is the squeal will get worse and sometimes the motors will seize.

Yee gads! I hope that doesn't happen to me!

But, I had the squeak since new (2010) and now it's just about gone. So apparently, the bushings loosened up a bit, or something. There have been a number of threads on this problem, and unfortunately, changing the fan is very invasive, so I haven't done it.

Mine goes away all summer, only to return in the winter. I don't think a squeaking bushing gets better.

Anyone can confirm whether there was a cover over that area where your feet go, and above?
