Probably because they'd lose their jobs. A GM employee got fired a few years back for releasing spy shots of the factory. But for whatever reason, GM doesn't seem to care what their dealers do.

I think that you guys that voted "no" are funny. You really mean to tell me that if it is the baddest camaro that GM ever produced and you could afford it, you wouldn't buy it because it wasn't called Z28? Just funny

If its not a z28 I wont buy it , period. I am not even sure I could afford it. I dont care if it is the baddest Camaro ever built but thats my opinion. I want Chevrolet to build a Z28 even if its to expensive for me to have one , it would still be cool to see one on the road.

My guess is that calling it a Z28 would have led to nonstop leaks regarding this Camaro. Calling it something else adds a passive layer of security. It will probably be a Z28, but calling it anything else would still make it the most destructive pony car on the market. I'd still gladly drive it.

I originally thought that if it had so much done to it ala magnetic ride, supercharging etc it was more of a supercar like someone else said like a ZL1. I have since settled on this car being a Z/28 as it does indeed represent "the" highest performance factory Camaro at present with current hi-perf parts. Just as the Z/28 was originally, only a factory order code. The question is what would the production code be now? Would it really be Z/28? If not, should it be?

If they don't call it Z/28 in the end, it may actually water the brand down a little as even the non-Camaro lovers out there know what a Z/28 would represent: the nastiest Camaro out there!

It should be Z28 or ZL1. If no other special editions are coming out it should be Z28. If they have another space open for a more traditionally "Z28" kind of car, they could save it for that. The problem with ZL1 is that most people have no idea what that is and SLP uses the ZL's.

I love the Z28 name (own a 98 Z28,) and love Z28s of all generations, but this car is another animal altogether. As some other posts have mentioned, I think ZL1 is a more appropriate name for this beast.

Understeer is added for safety reasons... It may understeer less, but it will understeer.

I want it to be Z28 as well.as for a boss killer,how bout taming the ssx just enough to make it street legal.One other possibility for a name could be 1LE.

you never know, as history recalls the first gen ss carried the big block 396 or 427 with big power, kinda simular to this. SS = ls3, SS-X = LSA/9(tvs1900/2300)
