I did the muffler delete also and as yours did my wife hated the drone. It was not that bad to me but I spent 12 years in the army and am partly def anyway. My wife also supported me in an aftermarket exhaust. I went with Kooks street sleeper and I have to tell you the drone is gone and my wife loves the sound of the car now.

Just my .02

That's good to hear since I have the same catback ordered. It should be here soon.

New guy here... glad i found this. I am still stock right now. So would it just be best for me to do LT and high flow cats?? Leaving the rest of the stock system. Right now its not loud at all and i would like a little more sound.. Will the headers and high flow cats give me that?? Do i need to remove the resinator to?? Sorry for tread jacking..

drone at 1:39 into my video. it does occure however it doesnt bother me. i simply raise the rpms a little or choose a different gear. during this vid i only had jba mids, x pipe and a muffler delete. Drone will happen with "most" exhaust set ups. I just dont have a problem with it.

My L99 was stock until a few weeks ago also. Installed Solo J-pipe axle backs and as advertised it has no droan and great sound without being over the top. All you will need is these and I bet you will be happy. You'll also keep your AFM and factory power train warranty. Nothing not too like.

I know the Granatelli stuff is spot on and drone free. There are lots of choices and it is too bad you had a bad experience. Perhaps the auto trans lugs the motor down more than the manual and creates a different harmonic

In any case there is no lack of options

Drone come when you lug the motor down not "heavy load" as in wide open.

And I agree - no need to spend $1000 plus for a great sounding and running exhaust system The Granatelli is way less

I just did a muffler delete. Kept the stock tips, resonators, cats etc.
The really annoying drone happens at around 2,150-2,250 RPM.
In 6th gear, 80mph is right at 2K RPM, so there is no annoying drone at highway speeds. I love the sound.
My only regret is not doing it a year ago.

I am heading out in our 2010 Camaro SS for the Hot Rod Power Tour, I "think" this system is the one we will be showcasing. I will get some GoPro video of interior sound and the bare minimum and a report.

To the OP, don't listen to the attackers, for they know not what you speak of!

At least not in the same way. I know exactly what you are talking about as I have a drone problem as well.

I have the LS3 manual with stock exhaust, but the previous owner changed stock muffler for more sound and it produces a resonating drone at the aforementioned rpm range.
I really enjoy aggressive exhaust notes, but drone is different from the overall exhaust note in that it's a particular frequency that multiplies/amplifies inside the cabin and isn't just the exhaust notes being heard.

I had a C6 Vette with longtubes, no cats, x-pipe, with Corsa Sport mufflers and that mother was loud as hell. BUT, there was very little drone and now I appreciate even more what Corsa does with their engineering.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
One muffler shop guy (flowmaster salesman) tell me I should just cut off the resonators and try that. I want to take the mufflers off and possibly the resonators, but I'm not sure what the resonators actually do regarding tone.
It's not loud exhaust that bothers me, I love that, it's the drone that is affecting my Camaro experience.

I don't really want to drop Corsa money right now so I'm going to experiment.
I really like the idea of the Helmholtz (?) tube to balance the drone.

Is this something that I can have any good muffler shop fabricate, or should I buy a prefab system with the Helmholtz already done?

I am a new 2SSRS M6 owner and have been doing some research on modding my ride

Being currently STOCK out of the Show room I hear the drone of the stock exhaust that said I would expect every after-market system will drone at a given rpm fact of life..

IMPO its all in what I am willing to live with..

Like I said even the stock exhaust drones in my ears in 6th gear 1500 - 2000
cruzin..

Here is how I deal with it >> screw it crank up the BONEYARD or LITHIUM OR OCTANE of even some Country tunes.. I got the Optional speakers and 200 watt Amp comin!!

I expect a lot more drone on the way

That said I am willing to live with drone note from the exhaust and I expect the drone to change note when I go with some exhaust mod.
