I think the fact we have everything but a Z/28 this early there's plenty of time and room for a Z/28. I'm thinking we will see new products in the Z/28...It may even borrow from the new C8.

First, if it's less than $65,000 I'll be surprised. If it's less than $60,000 equipped well I may forgive the crappy visibility.
Second, does anyone else think the 17 ZL1 is faster around a track than a 15 Z/28? I do.

So...I do, too. Also...I fully believe the ZL1 will start with a price of about $60k-62k before options. No more. |

I think it will start $62,995, unless GM adds a Vette engine tax.

Most tracks? Yes. Its likely to weigh within about 50 lbs of the Z/28, with an extra 140 hp. It should do better around a road course (or any other track for that matter). Granted, it won't have foot wide tires out front, or carbon brakes, or the trick dampers that the Zedder got (though MR shocks do have their advantages) ... but the e-diff will make up for some of that. The added 140 or so hp ought to do the rest.

IIRC the Z/28 is 300lbs less than the old ZL1, and Chevrolet said the new ZL1 is only 200lbs lighter than the outgoing ZL1. Will that 140hp make up for the 100lb difference, likely I guess.

Not much...performance data recorder, automatic, and hood/decklid stripe for sure...
The rest are guesses: I'm hoping for an exposed carbon fiber hood. There's an image on Chevy.com of a carbon-fiber dash panel, so that might be an option. A sunroof, navigation, different wheel finish/optional wheels? The A10 and automatic are $1600-2000 options, each...stripe probably $500 or so, carbon fiber hood (if available) might be $600-1000, sunroof $1000, Nav $450? Could add $7000 onto this car pretty easy for the person who checks all the boxes. |

It should be. Much better platform and better power to weight ratio.

So this supercharged/heat-soak/limp-mode "issue" is no longer an issue?....The ZL-1, even with an automatic, is immune from over-heating?....Just curious as a supercharged engines in the not too distant past, here and elsewhere, were dismissed out-of-hand as not being a good choice for regular track duty due to "heat soak"...
(If there is no longer a concern, an LT-4 could see duty in a 6th Gen Z/28...or not??)... Thanks.... |

I don't see GM using the LT4 in two Camaros. If the Z/28 doesn't come back with a high revving, n/a LTx, I don't see it coming back at all.

Seeing how the LT1 runs out of steam around 4800 rpm, I wonder what the LTx would be capable of with some CNC heads and enough cam. Spin it past 7000 rpm, like the LS7. It may not beat the Voodoo, but with the money saved, they can put that back in the Z/28 in light weighting and that kind of stuff.
