That was quoted right out of Hot rod magazine. You can take it for what it's worth. Im sure that's still not "valid' enough for you though...

Correct 580HP is all I need for the driving I do and that's the key right. If I buy a ZL1 will never see a drag strip, ever. It will see mountain roads with 2000 foot drop offs hence I'll take all the handling and stability the ZL1 can serve up.

As for the GT500's handling its simple, what is the GT500's Nuremberg lap time? Is it better than the ZL1 7:41:27? If so let Ford post it and I will be impressed and give the GT500 its due.

I'm quite happy actually with my 2010 Hemi Ram 1500 4x4, the best vehicle I have owned in many ways. I drive around daring it to snow or get muddy!! Inferno Red...Inferno I said!

You bet, here's more ZL1 goodies I like that the GT500 doesn't seem to offer.

Automatic Transmission w/paddle (touch) shifters
Heated mirrors
Heated seats
Remote starter
Rear parking assist camera
Daytime running lights
Remote trunk release
Power passenger seat
Adjustable steering wheel
Auto dimming rear view mirror

I like a ZL1 suspension that adjusts as I'm entering the pothole, while I'm in the pothole, and as I exit the pothole.

Give me a break really so your not going to a drag strip or the RING so wtf does it matter. You people and that ring time are ridiculous. You planning on driving it way over the speed limit on on those mountain roads to the point that the suspension matters that much?

I have a feeling that even if the GT500 were to spank the ZL1 on every course known to man, other than the ring, it would still be a fail for the Shelby...

I went down to Ford last weekend and looked at a GT500 in person, man that engine is bad ass. Quad overhead cams, massive cylinder heads, 4 valves per cylinder, forged pistions, rods, crank, cast aluminum oil pan. That's what I would expect in a modern muscle car.

The ZL1 engine in the pictures looks kind of puny and dated. Sure its making HP but I can't help think I'm getting kind of out dated tech in the engine category with the ZL1.

Sadly I had to cross the GT500 off my list because hey Ford where's the rest of the freaking car? This is where the ZL1 shines, the engine aside its literally stuffed bumper to bumper with modern muscle car high tech advancements they really did a hell of a nice job on this car. It needs to shed a few pounds.

So I think I'm going to go for a ZL1, I just may have to about the pushrod motor until I get over it.
Welcome to the Half Century Club! As Billy Crystal was famous for saying in one of his skit's on SNL....You (will) look marvelous in a ZL1, the ZL1 is The hands down mid life crisis American Muscle machine. Mustang, ...meh. ZL1 isn't boyish looking, it's freakin bad ass as all hell. Sure, it ain't perfect, but...is anything? That's my story and I'm stickin to it...

There is a reason the ZL1 peaks at 6250...
LOL go ahead tell us how a 750rpm difference is make or break with a forged crank, titanium rods, forged pistons, overhead cams, revised cooling, oil squirters, and 1.5 more quarts of oil this should be good for a laugh.

Or is it the GT500 isn't designed to disipate the heat at 7,000 rpm or take the 15psi of boost for more than a few seconds?

I think for what you are looking for, a CTS-V maybe the ticket! You seem to like the comfort features more than anything else and the super-Caddy will fit the bill. Fast and Luxurious.

Did I say it would see no track days? No I did not, just no drag strip duty.

You certainly didn't say anything about taking it to any track either.

And let's say you were going to track it you will still never see the one you've mentioned.
