Completely Badarse!!! Sounds great. Excellent increase for your mods. Interested in knowing what your baseline Dyno was if you had one.

Doug Thorley does not currently offer these in a 1 7/8".....since the 1 3/4" Tri Y's have consistently proven to flow as good and better than some 1 7/8" designs, Doug Thorley has held back on pushing up to a larger primary.

Not to say that they won't......but for now, these are the Bees Knees when it comes to Bang per Dollar.

I do not have the drone at cruising speeds. My setup is DT headers w/HF cats, l99 factory piped w/ resonator and muffler delete and it is tuned w/ AFM delete.

As you accellerate, you hear the exhaust and the power of the engine. When you get to cruising speeds on the highway or city it just mellows inside the cabin. Lets say a tad if you want to say hearing the exhaust is drone.

I personally love the sound. Even more now that it is set up w/ HF cats. It removes the raspy sound from the headers.

Review will be by the end of the week. I am going on a three to four hour drive tomorrow for tuning, then I will cruise again on Wednesday. That will be enough driving to see how they perform. Hopoefully I will see the same miles per gallon than before which was 22mpg after tuning.

First review...They sound great!!!

Great! I'll so be standing by to hear back from you as I know you'll give another honest evaluation out there for everyone.

Some of us CCNM guys did a cruise yesterday...only about a 1.5 hour deal, but the Club Prez (who just installed his DT LT's last Friday) reported to me afterwards that he averaged just over 23 mpg on the "spirtited" run.

On a sidenote, his Diablo Trinity reported a couple 0-60 times out to him. The best of the day was 4.28 seconds.

He'd totally loving his DT LT's now...

The week is over, and here are the reviews.

I installed the headers myself in my one car garage. Not having worked on engines in a very long time, and working with an injury to my left arm, I proceeded around 730am to set up and start removing the passenger side first then the drivers side. I had them off by 1030am. I removed o2 sensor plugs first, the clamps on the pipes next, then the spark plug wires (not necessary after the fact, but a good precaution), the ground, spark plugs and then the stock headers. Everything came off relatively easy. I sprayed down the o2 sensors on the pipes and let them sit for about two hours while I started to put the Thorley LTs in. I put them in through the bottom, and they slipped in very easy. I removed the o2 sensors from the old pipes and installed them to the same sides on the new headers. My only area of concern is the passenger side 02 sensor was 3/4 of an inch to short to go back into the plug. I did like the other gentleman and pulled the plug from the head and it gave me enough slack to allow it to connect. Afterwards, I reinstalled the sparkplugs, wires, torqued down the headers as instructed and reattached all the wires. I was finished at around 5pm. It did not necessarilly take this long start to finish, but I was distracted numerous parts of the day with other things. I would say it took me a straight 7 hours, which is not bad doing this one handed and by way of car jack stands and all manual equiptment.

I say the install was easy to understand and execute.

After getting everything right, she started right up. I now have DT LT headers, HF CATS, custom street tune through east coast superchargers, L99 resonator, and muffler delete. Before installing the HF cats, the car was very loud and pretty raspy! Now, it is still loud, but not nearly as raspy. There is drone when accellerating at high RPMs and when it is running from 1900 to 2100 RPM. Highway driving mostly. It is tolerable, but I will most likely go with the resonated x pipe from Magnaflow to replace the l99 resonator and to reduce some drone.

The power is definitely noticeable. It has a very strong pull on take off and opens up at WOT! We took it to the track this past weekend and I was able to run the 1/4. The best times before at the track were 12.93@109.2mph with stock headers and custom tune from east coast superchargers, halltech CAI, muffler delete and a well managed track (very sticky at c5festI). Yesterday my best time was 12.779@111.98mph. The track was not as sticky, and I spun a little. I have more I can get out of it, I just need to figure out how. I will receive my ported TB this coming week. If I do it right, I should get it down to 12.5 in the quarter.

Ivan, thanks for throwing the special my way. I ran against two other cars with similar mods, and each had a tune (canned, not street tuned). Their best times were 12.96. The Dough Thorleys and the correct tune really bring out the power.

Alright, so if i wanted to put these in myself, can I hook them up to the stock cats? Or do i need to either get high flows or delete them (which i don't want to do)? It just hooks up directly to the stock mid section?

If you go with short headers you can use the stock cats, but if you go long tube you will need to have the cats welded in.

Massively awesome feedback EDog! Thank you for taking the time to give your input to the thread!

Ivan,
I was thinking I would need a modified pipe for my MBRP exhaust, but these fit the OEM exhaust connection point, so does my MBRP, so these would mount right up no problem.

One question, the high flow cats would mount right in front of the OEM connector correct? You would have the race pipe portion cut and have the cats welded on there just in front of the OEM connector correct?

Paul

DT's website now shows that high flow cats are an option on these headers.

Absolutely Paul. This is the exact spot where we, and everybody else, is installing their HF Cats.

We have the Magnaflow HF Cats for this application, but they do have to be welded in.

Sounds like your MBRP kit would fit as well. You know what you're doing.

There's been talk about adding bolt on HF Cats, but as of now, they aren't available. Do you know where you might have saw that?? I've just re-scoured the Doug Thorley site and didn't find anything of the sorts.

We're pretty in touch with DT and this would be news to me! Sure would love to hear it though.....

Thanks
