Okay, I started my project earlier today. Used one can of plasti dip to do the insides of the rims and used another for the outside of the rims and center caps. Will lay another one or two layers on the outsides this weekend, then paint two of the rims and lay down the two different clears. That should give four different examples for all to look at. I'll post pics in a bit.

Nicely done, looks great. But this thread is about Plastidip rubber coating wheels...not spray paint.

Finally..somebody painting the 1LT wheels. That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!

I'm still on the fence about doing mine.

Definitely doing my calipers next week, though. Can't wait to see the 1LT wheels mounted up.

Plastidip works great for the LS "beauty" rings too.

Did mine this weekend. They came out alright. I knew it wouldn't be "perfect", but they look good. I mainly wanted to make sure I liked the look before I get them powder coated eventually....Now I'm definitely sold on the color scheme

Thanks!

Future black plans are hood spears and probably a side stripe, maybe a hockey or something like that. And I wouldn't mind getting one of these snazzy gas caps, and blacking it out. Plan on leaving the mirrors and spoiler as is, though I was thinking about getting one of those LED mirros that you can get custom text in....But probably will leave them color matched.

Just an update: It was too cold this weekend to continue my project. Woke up to snow this morning. Hopefully this next weekend will bear fruit.

Nice heater since its 8 degrees outside.

This is what I used.

And its completely reverse able. After its all dry you can peel it off like latex. And its very durable as well. You can hit it with a power washer and it stays on just fine. There is no prep besides spraying them off with water and wiping them down. Spray it on the rims and let it dry 30 minutes between coats. I did 4 coats and I love the look. Cant wait to put them on my Summit White car with flat black stripes.
C586,

Just wondering how they are holding up today, I am sure you have done a few washes by now. Have you had to touch them up since? I think I will send you a PM as well. Thanks.

I have not had to touch them up at all. I have washed the car and no issues. I don't wash the wheels just spray them off with soapy water and then just water. I wash with the 2 bucket at a pay and spray and the power washer hasn't.taken the dip off. So its all good. this stuff has been used for years on wheels. If applied correctly it will be fine.
