Yet my in-laws had a 1976 Toyota Corolla that the whole bottom rusted out in 5 years... Quality, sheesh.... maybe I have been lucky, but you would think after owning 35 GM cars I would have gotten a lemon or two...( closest thing I had to a lemon was a 71 Vega, but I still put 50,000 miles on it is 3 years, nothing ever fell off of it either... just started using oil around 40K then I traded it for a 74 Camaro... I miss that car)
Those people in the Toyota dealership were typical import snobs. They probably ready about GM in some Japanese owned product review magazine and never even looked at a GM car. They base their whole opinion of something on nonsense.

Plus, a lot of them rationalize in their minds that the import cars are better built because they just got ripped off and need to justify to themselves why they spent thousands more on a car that's no better than any other.

Granted, that Cimmaron they showed was indeed a junky cheap looking car with a chintzy interior, but that cheap look was NORMAL back in those days. Japanese cars from that time really didn't have much nicer interior styling.

The point of that part was that gm cars compared to most other cars don't hold their value as well. Which is true and they have taken steps towards improving that. Its easy to find someone that will talk bad about any brand or make or model of a car. Though I do like how they showed the interior of the firebird/camaro in one part when talking about cheap interior. My firebird has held up great in its 9 years and never a problem.

There are always those that will insist that Japaneese are better and worth the extra money. A friend of mine has been talking for 6 months to me about my HHR, he made me believe he was going to get one but at the last minute ended up getting a Toyota Rav 4 and paid about $3,000 more and gets worse gas mileage. go figure. By the way 3 years ago he bought a Toyota Tundra to pull his camper... well he ended up buying a Silverado 2500 with the desiel engine because the Toyota was only getting about 9 mpg pulling the camper and had a hard time doing it. Even when he does not pull the camper 18 MPG was the best it would do. he kept the Toyota because he likes it better....

I remember one dealer was buying up Cavaliers and changing them to look like Cimmarons and selling them so they could make more money. but the only thing they changed were the grills and taillights, and replaced the emblems.
I owed an 85 Cavalier and laughed when a Cimmaron pulled up next to me knowing they paid half again as much for the same car with leather seats and a V6 engine.

I'll admit that I liked the program a lot. It was very informative and I learned a lot about where GM is now, both nationally, and globally. I wished the Camaro segment was longer, but what are you gonna' do? Let's hope GM gets turned around in time to save themselves so we can all get our car!

You'll feel better once you're driving the car.

The video clip said it was 58.3" tall but the spec PDF from the 21st says 54.2". I hope the spec is right.
