Driveshaft Rubber Coupler
The first track day since the spring is coming up and I was going over the car and noticed that there were fibers hanging out of the rubber coupler and the rubber was cracked.
It turns out that GM doesn't list a part number for the coupler, it comes with a complete driveshaft. If you have the correct part number, you can get couplers but the number is not easy to determine. My parts guy didn't have a part break down of the driveshaft assy and couldn't look at the coupler "where used". I found this thread https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=554318 after I ordered wrong couplers The correct number for 5th Gen SS & Z28 manual cars is 92228328. There are single use components on the drive shaft: Nut, Propeller Shaft (6ea) 92228333, (also coupler to trans, 3ea), 1 Use Washer, Propeller Shaft (6ea) 9222834 Bolt, Propeller Shaft (6ea) 92228335 (coupler to shaft), 67 lb-ft 1 Use, measure torque on nut Bolt, Propeller Shaft (3ea) 92139104 (to differential), 85 lb-ft 1 Use Bolt, Rear Propeller Shaft (3ea) 92139225 (to transmission), 72 lb-ft Bolt/Screw, Propeller Shaft Bearing Support (2ea) 11515758, 192 lb-in

A different failure
This turned out to be the problem. The #4 intake valve head split. This is the first one the engine builder has seen..........still bad. They're working with me on the rebuild so hopefully not BIG $$$$

The Fix
I put the LS3 back into the car and have decided to sell the car. I have a buyer lined up for the LS7, so that's good.
The car is listed several places, This is the eBay link https://www.ebay.com/itm/254423651400

Next?!?
I'm looking at the 6th Gen ZL1 along with both C7 Z06 or less likely the GrandSport.
I am not thinking of the 6th gen SS 1LE because I'm afraid that I'll want more power and will end up seriously modifying it..... I think I'd like a stock vehicle with a warranty for a while. Both the ZL1 & Z06 have the LT4 and should make ~550 to the wheels.......that should be plenty for a while. I've got some time to make my mind up.

Damn, how did I miss this? ZL1 — best choice...
So, the LS7 took a dump — would not have expected that! -Don

really, i agree. I was not expecting it!
it was a material failure of the valve. HOPEFULLY, things will go good on the repair. It's not apart yet, so still wondering if the block is hurt. there was water in the pan when we pulled it out. so at a minimum the head is hurt
