But FbodFather, does "one direction" mean just SS OR Z/28?? Not both????

*Begin over-analyzing freakout*

Note the sarcasm.

Do you know of a GM car without them?

AFAIK, they let you turn them off on GM vehicles, but the option to disable them resets when you shut off the engine. So you have to disable them each time you start up.
My Aveo has no way to disable them (if there's a way you know of PLEASE tell me). I don't mind disabling them every time I start the car, just as long as it can be done.

Driving around with your headlights on all the time looks stupid. I can see another car in broad daylight without the help of DRL's. I haven't met anyone yet that likes them.

I'll concede the fact that they aren't as bad in the turn signals. But in the headlights (like my Aveo) I hate them.

I disabled them in my '00 S10 and ''02 Camaro. I'll do the same in the 5th Gen as soon as I figure out how.

EllwynX, if the contols in your Aveo are anything like my Cobalt, on the directional stalk (the one on the left when you're sitting in the seat), there should be a little "twist switch" right at the tip of the stalk, that enables you to manually take control of the headlights. If you twist that switch/nob backwards, they should shut off. The DIC gives me an "Auto Headlights off" warning. I only do this to make the bulbs last longer...I figure why have them on when the sun is out?

But I never understood what people disliked about automatic headlights, or Daytime lunning lights... I'm not in love with them, but what do they do to you (anybody) that causes such a dislike? If I remember right, there's an insurance factor to them, because they count as a saftey feature.

.
don't take it either for yourself or as a general statement.

I just meant a cop who would piss me off for having 4 red taillights instead of two red ones and two amber ones would definitely be an as***le to me.

So don't take it for yourself, I mean I'm prolly like almost everyone: in love cops when they kick robbers, rapers, killers asses, but I hate them when instead of chasing real criminals, they hide behind a tree to give a f***** ticket for nothing.

I'm sure you feel like I feel: there's much more important to do for a cop than bothering people for the colour of their taillights, don't you?

I don't wish cops to die either stupid or not, I just wish they could take care of much much important things happening in this sad sad world than my taillights ...

Again not against you, but when I'm taken over the speed limit I always have this stupid (i like this word! lol) "safety" warning blah blah ... "you know sir, this is for your safety sir, you should know sir, that if you do that sir .." (yes, french cops put the word "sir" every 3 words) ... makes me crazy ...

When i'll import my camaro, I will have to pay something like 10 to 20% tax, then I will have to pay for the state to authorize the car, then I will have to pay for this damn stupid "eco tax", then I will pay a "80% state taxes" gas, then ... if I have to pay for my taillights ... I feel like I'm gonna buy a bicycle ... or kill myself!

I love how i never have to remember to turn my lights on at night.
I think of the daytime running lights as a safety feature. I think they are there so its easier for others to spot you.

And for the camaro, if i had to guess, i think the halos will be the daytime running lights like in the first pic......and then headlights inside them will turn on at night like in the second pic

I'll see if I can turn that knob backwards in the Aveo. But it doesn't have auto-on headlights, so it probably doesn't work the same way.

I can honestly say I haven't noticed a vehicle with DRL'S in a couple years (if that is due to most of them being in the turn signals, then they obviously aren't bright enough to make a difference). That's how little attention they really draw to the vehicle above and beyond actually seeing the vehicle in broad daylight (ie-none).

I mean, really, if you can't see the car in FULL DAYLIGHT you have some issues and should have your eyes checked.

Auto-On headlights I'm ok with. BUT they should always have a disable feature. You may not always want your car running with the headlights on at night.

How can you 'forget' to turn your headlights on at night!??! It's dark, you can't see your guages... You turn them on.

I doubt DRLs give you that much of a discount on insurance. 'Passive Restraints' (seat belts) give me a $36 discount... DRLs can't be too much more.

Unfortunatly chevy aveo's do not have auto headlamps. They're actually the only gm vehicle that I know of that doesn't. So unfortunatly I don't think there is any way to shut off the DRL's on that vehicle short of a possible fuse. I will check with our service guys on monday and find out.

I would MUCH prefer the DRL's in the turn signals or fog lamps or anyplace other than the headlamps.

a. They look cool in the turn signals, and dorky in the headlights.
b. Headlamp bulbs cost a lot more than turn signal bulbs so it's nice to save them.
c. You can't install HID headlights if the DRLs are in the same position.

I hope someone is taking this all down!

That would make sence, and look evil in the daytime too.

I think what Scott's saying is a very safe and correct response to the comment "GM could go either way." That comment meaning that GM could make the Z/28 "top dog" or they could make the SS "top dog." So, what I think Scott's saying is that no, there aren't two ways this could go...there is ONLY one way. There is only ONE way that GM can go on this. (This is not me saying one over the other...it's just me interpreting what was said) Scott, tell me if I'm wrong...

You want to turn off your DRLs? Simple:

1. Open hood
2. Locate fuse box
3. Locate fuse marked "DRL"
4. Remove!
