GM knows about this problems due to it being brought to their attention numerous times, but are refusing to do anything about it.
If the dealer painted it they should fix it, sounds like they didnt apply the paint or prep the surface properly.

Camaro paint not good

I have had my camraro for a year now purchased 14 may 2009. I have 22,000 miles on it, I started having paint chip problems from the begining. I did complain to the dealer that I purchased it. After a year they have done me well and have repainted and clear coated the rear fenders from Rock chips. they did replace rear wheels for chipping. the problem that I had was that the paint shop did not do that great a job. I had to take it back three times to get it right. I did install the factory mud guards which seems to help with the chipping, I recommend them if you are just buying a camaro. I hope that GM does something to change there paint process in the future, The Quality just does not seem to be there. Maybe Canadians can't paint? I don't know but they need to make a change. Good luck all lets all stand together on this.

Not hijacking, just posting because we just released 2 paint protection kits that address 2 vulnerable areas. Both are easy to apply.

Hope ya don't mind

I did a color sand on the whole car to remove the factory texture and clear coated it. I have not had any chips since.

how long ago did you do the wet sand did it take away orange peel and is it holding up.

On another thread someone here said their paint peeled off when powerwashed- That has nothing to do with the top &/or clearcoat .Let us know how your cars doing in six months with your fix.

so there is enough clear on top of paint to wet sand. somebody told me there wasn't.

The paint on this car is horrible. Chips easily and clear coat is bubbling up in an area of my hood.

Exclamation cars 3 days bought and already had a touch up on fronty facia

so i have had my 2011 camaro since friday(@that time 43 miles on the OD), i brought it today to get the auto armour added to it, when they were done we brought it home and upon arrival we exited mt camaro and my fiance said, what the hell is this? He showed me and it looked like freckles on my car, well we were going to a paint shop to get stripes painted on....not stickers,.....anyways the paint guy looked at my car and pointed out 5 things wrong with my brand new camaro....I was heart broken. He said the "freckles" were rail dust, and that it was "sealed" in my paint by the auto armour. In his opinion the job wasnt done right......also i had a huge paint chip off my door he noticed hile my car door was open,.......a reverse dent, one that points out on the driver rear fender, and he noticed my window didnt catch and close like it was supposed to, it didnt move at all, @ that point i tried to roll my window up and down, it did fine but still wouldnt catch, so he told me how to "reset" my window, roll it down then back up and hold for 5 seconds when its to the top. ( i also had a "notice" come up on my screen between my gauges that said "open window then close" which went off after i "reset " my window.,.......lastly a rock pock, or rock chip that had apparently been covered up before we bought the car.WTH!!!!!!!!!!!

If you lightly wet sand you should have enough. The clear does a number of things, it makes the color shine and protects the color from the suns UV rays and everyday junk. Take too much off and you allow the sun to turn the color to a faded out bunch of dust over time. Most shops and DIYS'ers will remove too much. You wont know it until it is too late.

2011 Camaro Paint Chip

Today, Sunday the 22nd of August completes my first week of owning my new 2011 Camaro LS. I was cleaning some bugs off of the front bumper and noticed a paint chip right on the "point" of the bumper. My car only has 243 miles on it! I shouldn't have a chip on it so soon!!!!! Is the chevy camaro paint job really giving so many other people problems like this??????

I've taken the car out twice on long drives and both times have come back with a chip in the paint on the hood.

sorry but if you've had your car for six months and the front and sides look like they have been sand blasted and have tons of rock chips and you paid over 30g i wouldn't be the happiest either.

it is what it is the paint isn't great.

I have 10K miles on mine and just applies GM victory red paint touch up paint to 8 different chips. Chips are rouchly 1-3mm and all went to the metal. Three on the shark fins, three on the hood and 2 on the front bumper. Gotta protect the metal..it's my daily car. However, my wife has a nissan altima with 100K miles only teo chips penetrated down to the metal. My fathers corvette has a way better paint job as well. Gotta question the amount of attention that was paid to the paint job on these camaros.
