Either way I plan on bleeding the clutch this weekend. Once it's broken in I will do a couple launches and see how it does. I will get it to the tack in the next couple weeks too.
Cool.

Thanks again.

I am doing my clutch because my trans would not shift to second above 5000 RPM. I would have never done it otherwise. Of course my clutch would stick on a high RPM slipper launch too. But in normal driving my car/clutch was PERFECT. I was just living with it and I nearly did not take it in. I hope it goes back together OK and I am happy with it. Cross your fingers
Totally agree here! I had the clutch issues and my service guy put in for all the parts and 3 days later, she was done. I have to tell you, I was MORE worried about what they wouldn't do right than them fixing the clutch issues! Thank God, she's doing fine since the upgrades.

How does the cliche go? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

That SUCKS. My car has done that 3 times. Last time was a month ago. I was TRYING to do an easy burn-out for a couple people outside Home Depot. I thought I smoked my tires until I looked back and saw NO TIRE MARKS. Just a smoking clutch.

I have 15,000 miles. CRAP.

Well, I got my car back last night. The dealer had it 2 weeks because they had to wait for all the parts and they were busy so it sat for the first few days without being worked on. I took it in with 11,998 miles on the ODO.
They put in a new clutch/pressure plate and throwout bearing/actuator and the flywheel. He also tore down my Transmission and replaced the 2nd gear syncros etc. So my trans was completely gone through. I think it said he rebuilt the input shaft assy. So there was a new bearing installed too on that.

Anyhow, there was no hassles and no charge and they gave me another car to drive the whole time.

The clutch workes perfect and I will not be abusing it anytime soon. I am just glad my car is fixed and glad to have it back. The shifting seem to be better than ever and that is with the GM fluid. I find that to be good news. I plan on putting in synthetic sometime down the road.

Does anyone know how recently GM started using these new clutch parts on their assembly line? My car was made in March of this year. I haven't experienced any of these problems, but I don't want to either.

If I were you, I would not even worry about it. I cooked my clutch pretty good several times. Some by trying to get a good launch at the track timing my car and a couple times without knowing on the street. AND, I would have never had my clutch replaced because it still worked FLAWLESSLY in every other way after all that abuse. That clutch was surprisingly resilient. ANd I saw my clutch and it still looked pretty good.

But my trans was damaged and did not shift to second above 5000 RPM. That is the main reason I bit the bullet and took my car in. It would KILL me if I got next to a Mustang and could not get the shift to second and got beat.

I think it's been about two months! I brought mine in a two weeks after I heard about it! It's not really a new clutch, it's just the pressure plate and throw out bearing! If the plate has damaged the clutch tho, they will replace it! My clutch disks were fine but they still put me a new one!

Numerous races on mine and still no problem!

well my service manager is ordering a new pressure plate and all the goodies (bless his heart). i knew he would take care of this. I just hope he decides to open up the trans and see what kind of damage is already done with all the grinding that has been happening. I'm sure the 2nd gear blocker rings and sincros show at least some kind of wear. Hopefully im the next one to have a happy ending to all this. I'll let everyone know when it gets done, probly wont be for a week or two thou.
