But yeah whatever, get a SS, it will fill the void but might create a bigger one in your pocket.
That's the main reason for this thread! both Camaros look the same side by side and both can be customize the same way... but at the moment of start that engine and take off is when they separate from each other... Deep inside i wish to have a SS hell! i dream to have a ZL1!!! but like somebody said before why i'm going to have a dream car for couple months to return it because i can't keep up with the payments... I like you saying... "Don't fill the void if is going to create a bigger one in your pocket..."

I consider the loss on any new car as acceptable. I think it is the price one pays for owning a brand new beautiful car equipped with that new car smell and peace of mind.
I don't mind paying a couple of grand for that.
And it doesn't matter if you buy an LS, LT, SS or ZL1. You pay extra for the privilege of being the only owner your car has ever had.
New cars are my weakness. I LOVE EM!
So maybe "needing" an SS is just a way to convince myself I need a new car.
That probably means in 3-4 years I will then "need" a ZL1!

Only when its "Camaro for Camaro" that emotions run high. Using the above example, the question you would need to answer, regardless of a trade in, is the SS worth 8K more than the LT?

And, as you already have a Camaro, am I willing to lose/spend 2K more?

On a 1LT, that's a little over 5K. That's the part that hurts the most. Also keep in mind if you added mods, you're not going to get any money back for those (unless you remove them and sell them).

One smart way to do this would be:
  • return the car to stock condition
  • sell it privately
  • sell mods to recoup some cash
  • buy SS
The smarter way to do it is to just buy the SS in the first place (if that's what you really wanted). Hindsight is always 20/20

Unfortunately, I didn't do it either way. I traded it in at the dealer, took the hit and moved on. Live and learn
I see couple times the same "Sell it privately" How can you get almost the true value of the car or enough to pay the loan and get some extra cash sell in it privately? The idea is get out off the first loan to start clean the new one... (I least for me...)

I have read dozens, and I do mean DOZENS of threads, where you had your six and were so happy with it. You were hating on V8's, calling the mail slot "tacky" and various and sundry other reasons why you LOVED your 6 and would never, ever get an 8.

See here; a few examples: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=219

So the fact that you mention your "upgrade" in almost EVERY post and continue to defend your decision indicates a number of things to me-- a level of insecurity about your decision (like perhaps you aren't giving us the full story), or maybe even a huge desire to keep up with the Joneses. This thread is a prime example: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=177520

And whatever the case may be, you have a very nice car. We all know how proud you are of your V8. But after all of your V6 posts, it just seems inordinately hypocritical for you to completely change your position regarding it, and spend ALL Of your time on the forum talking about your upgrade and how much better the SS is. I see you in every trade-in thread; in LOTS of V6 threads; in all of the V6 vs. V8 threads, talking about how happy you are that you upgraded. It is off-putting. I think you probably don't even realize you're doing it. Why do you care so much what people think? You even said after a few V8 comments at a show you decided you just had to have the V8.

I promise, girl, I'm not trying to offend you, honestly; just saying what everyone else has been thinking. If I need to I can go look and find all of your and everyone else's posts on this subject, but I don't think that's necessary, as I'm not trying to start an argument. Just pointing out a fact. Enjoy your SS but sit back and let it ride a little, kwim? Good luck to you.

Now to the OP-- my line of thought is, get what you wanted from the beginning. If someone wants an SS but doesn't have the funds, they should keep saving, not buy a V6.

Me-- I got exactly what I wanted. And for a while I got sick of the haters and had to justify my purchase to everyone dogging the six, but I got over it. Haters gonna hate. A lot of people act like they think those two cylinders equals a bigger weenie.

But that ain't the case. And we all know it.

I don't know why people care so much what other people think. Heckling is definitely a lot of the reason for people trading their V6's in. But who cares what people think?! In the end it's a car, and it's not their car. It's yours. So get what you want, and let the haters hate in their Hyundai Sonatas.

your post to me made me bc
1. Ive nvr bashed anyone for owning a v6. I did adore my v6 but I had a great oppurtunity to upgrade so I did.
2. Yep, I sure did think the mailslot was tacky and I wasnt crazy about it even when I bought it. Its grown on me.
3. Honey, Im not keeping up with anyone. Lucky for me I have a good friend who is a dealer and gave me a deal on my SS
4. I do not mention my "upgrade" in any post where its uncalled for. Im sorry that it offends you so much when I talk about how happy I am that I upgraded when its a "I just upgraded" thread. Sounds to me like you are the insecure one, not me.
5. The fact that I dont post all that often on here yet you seem to know a lot about my posts shows me you're a follower
6. I was very happy with my LT and even happier with my SS.
7. Enjoy your v6 sweetie and dont worry about my SS

Oh and no offense.

Which Camaro I purchased was absolutely a question of cost. If I felt that getting an SS was something I could not afford, I would not have bought it. If a V-6 was the most I could have afforded, I would have gotten one of those, been perfectly happy, and never regretted it.
Can I afford a ZL1?...Not only no, but Hell NO!!...lol

I personally had no interest in the V8 because of the decreased gas mileage & higher price. I bought this car with the intention of using it as a daily driver, not a weekend cruiser like most on this site. Being faster IMO just wasn't worth the 7 less miles per gallon & extra few thousand bucks...that's just more mod money now. I did have the privilege in driving the V8 for 2 weeks & they are definitely nice...but the V6 is more than sufficient for what I need the car to do.

Now staring with myself hate this!!! less miles, cheaper insurance, lower price.... BUT!!! when we go on "MORE MOD MONEY" What's the first mods most V6's going for? Cat back,Intake, headers... in others words MORE POWER! in a simple words make the V6 feels like and sound like a V8!

I have to be honest. I love my 2LT, but I'd spring for an SS if it was more feasible. I live in MN and it's just not feasible to have an SS as our second car. My wife drives the van and I drive the Camaro as our regular cars. If I had an SS I'd have to have snow tires, and I don't want that hassle. Driving a beater isn't an option for me either...one...I just don't want to, and two...when I do have to go into the office it's 130 miles round trip.

Again...I love my V6. The SS isn't feasible for me, and would have got that in the first place if it were. In the end I have no regrets for my Camaro...I love it, and it gets plenty of thumbs up and compliments.

Trading cars so fast...I wouldn't do that if I was going to roll any loan into the next.

I never argue over it. I just like tweeking the noses of some of the Arrogant V8 owners. To each his own, and if someone wants to spend ALL their money on and 8---or a 12---that is their business. In any event, they don't make them like they used to. And it is a good thing. FYI: I was at the Chrysler proving ground a while back, and talked to some of the guys there. They said they had been trying to get the Corp to take a '68 Charger, get all the exact measurements, give it modern bumpers and running gear, and produce it. Corp. said no, nobody would ever buy it. I would have been first in line, and the engineers right behind me. Maybe with Fiat now involved, real car guys, it might have a small chance.

I compared the 6 with the old muscle cars, and that the 6 is quite capable of a whole lot of fun. Unfortunately, a lot of V8 snobs truly believe they are at the top of the pyramid. They are not. There is always something better. Their arrogance is unfounded, and I will bet that a lot of them will be on the repo lot when they don't make the payments they could never afford. their egos could not be contained.
