I'm not sure yet, I think a new plan might be in order? Here is a picture of my hood that was repainted under warranty. I decided to mark all the dirt/dust/blemish marks in the new paint with stickies....I ran out of stickies a quarter way through the process. They also never finished putting on the stripes. I'm upset with the whole thing, but I'm keeping my cool with it.

It sounds like they shot your car without using an airline filter. WOW B6 I think everyone in this forum is feeling for you right now bud! That just sucks. The upside is...you are an official pioneer in the "Make the Tremec Right" charge!

Good luck on all things!

I would insist on a BRAND NEW transmission if I were you! Looks like the dealership didn't fix the problem when they messed with the 2nd gear! Also, did you ever try going back to the stock shifter? Did the dealership reinstall the Hurst when they did the repair? Just curious because usually with shifting problems they'll insist on the stock shifter being installed.

Well I think I'm done with my dealer. Taking it back again and expecting a different result at this point is crazy. Unfortunately I think the time to pursue different path is my only option left. I love the Camaro and I'm a huge fan of Chevrolet but I think enough is enough with this. My Camaro is a daily driver that I depend on, and unfortunately it hasn't been that dependable for me. I'll keep you guys updated on the status.

Thanks for all the encouragement and advice!

Hey B6,
Is it possible for you to take your vehicle up to the dealer that RICK@RKT56 works at? I believe he is in Maryland? Maybe worth the drive there for the righteous warranty repair. He seems to have the best handle on this issue all the way around.

Add me too

I'm listening close on this one. I've got just shy of 7k miles on my 2011 SS/MT and the 1-2 shift has always been rough. Today on the way home from work the 1-2 shift grind happened twice. Both were in the first two shift sequences after I started the car. I was very cold today (for Texas, it was around 32F when I left) and I wonder if that had something to do with it. I wanted to try it a few more times but wouldn't you know it, I caught all the stoplights green on the way home. This never happens, Murphy's law abounds.

Anyway, I think 1-2 has ground before but I always thought that was due to my inexperience. I've never driven a manual before I owned this car. I learned on my father's mustang in order to buy a MT Camaro. This was my first thought when it grinded the second time today. While still rolling, I put it back in N and made sure my foot was pressed all the way to the floor and tried to enter 2 again. Again it grinds.

Imagine my terror to find this thread and other like it scattered around the boards. Moreover they are littered with tales of service departments that seem to be lacking in well...service. In Texas we have a saying for that, "all hat and no cow," but I digress. It sounds like very recently some fixes might have been accomplished by togtaker. Your input would interest me very much.

Much props to Rick@RKT56 for taking interest in his at large customers and fellow Chevrolet drivers. Somebody recommend this guy for a bad@ss service award. Continue the good work my man. This ain't over yet.

Follow-up

As an immediate follow-up, the 1-2 notchiness is only present when the engine is running. With the engine off 1-2 shifts smooth like the rest.

Just out of curiosity, I tried "double" clutching and I was able to make smooth shifts without the grind but I think it was because it was allowing the synchros time to slow down and match relative speed. I would like to know if those with severe grinding in 1st to 2nd can shift without a grind while double clutching.

My notchyness can be felt when the engine is not running 1-2 shift feels like it has to get past something in order to fully get into gear. It is notchy when I'm driving also. However, it does not grind touch wood.

Got my car back last week, replaced transmission for the 2nd-gear grind thing, better than ever with the shifting.

I have been checking for TSB's and bulletins but nothing yet. I think if enough owners have reported complaints with GM, they might do something about it. Mean while, I would like a volunteer who is local to come in with their 1-2 issue so I can go through the trans and see if I can repair this issue.
