This is bull what the hell so now im gonna pay the price of a mustang GT for a V-6 Camaro?!?!?!? GM is out of their minds. Premium priced unless this means only 2 grand over the price of a mustang then how the hell am i gonna afford it. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

personally, I think chevy needs to think about sales then 4 cylinder production. It seems nobody cares about gas prices. Alot of people still driving suvs, and large trucks. I think the car needs to have a powerful V6, and a LS3 like whats in the new vette. As for asthe LS2 the engine is old it don't need to be in the new car. Gas prices is very stupid and I blame the people for letting the gas prices to get this high. Chevy can build a V8 with 430+ hp with great gas mileage. I will not buy a new a car with a old engine package in it. The LS2 was in the slow GTO, please don't ruin the new camaro with an old engine package. As for as the V6, I can care less.

i think that this announcement is reflected of the mustang and challenger...the challenger having 3 significant trim levels sxt rt and srt with 3 motors... and the mustang v6 and gt.... BUT perhaps a V6 twin turbo... so if the ford makes this twin turbo...that would mean that gm would probably make this car... they want to compete the mustang on all LEVELS

I don't even think a person in the "tuning" crowd WILL buy a Camaro simply because of the name.

A tuner is a tuner, is a TUNER!!! They LOOOVE IMPORTS. They can care less about a turbocharged I4 Camaro!

Seriously, if GM wanted to appeal to the "tuning" crowd then bring back a "tuning" new version of the Cavalier!!!

Hell, they did a hella job w/ the Malibu! What the hell is the Cobalt for????

Yes, gas is getting expensive. Yes, the "tuners" are the future. NO, you do not do this to the Camaro AND all chevy fans.

Damn, I guess the "tuners" will have the last laugh...

I have one word for everyone ADAPTATION

Get with the times, gas prices are going up, the economy is going down, if GM can slap an I4 into the camaro to appeal to a broader audience and sell more cars then thats what they should to, GM is not out there to solely "keep tradition" and "stick to the roots" or whatever you want to call it, they are there to sell a great car, make money, and STAY IN BUSINESS. You are never going to see your precious camaro again in the future if this doesn't work out and GM looses a ton of money. GM needs to sell this car to everyone, including the I4 turbo tuners, so that we can continue to enjoy this great car

A few more points

-There is nothing shameful with an I4 engine, power is power is power, a modded I4 pushing 350-400 HP (they do it in the solstice, check it out!) is nothing to shake your head at!

-The G8 GT with leather and sunroof and all the fixings is MSRP'd at less then 34 000, and that is a higher end sedan. you can damm well expect the camaro with a similar engine priced cheaper then it

-WE ARE GETTING A V8, so its not like GM has taken anything from us, we all want a V8 and guess what, we are getting it!

You know what I just talked to my dad. He's the one that gave me the 67 SS and he got a Mint Vega, 57 hot rod, 69 SS El Camino, 87 Iroc... Good resume huh? He says no one will pay more than 30k for the Z28. Add a little inflation and that's like 33k. So the SS has to be like 42k at the most. And I'm looking around for some thing that give you 500 + hp that will come close to that and I'm not finding anthing. You pay 50 for a BMW M6. Viper is now 70k Vette is... well you know.

We know that the SS is gonna take a little longer to come out and the base models will be so marked up it will be ridiculous for the first few months.

Just be patient....plan ahead.... get you credit in order..... and a nice down payment will be great. What are you willing to do so that you can have what others can't.

OK HERES A QUESTION...

would you buy a camaro if it ONLY came with a I-4 turbo, or, v6, or v6 twin turbo and the challenger and mustang had the above as well? but you could throw down a quarter in less than 13.000 and do 0-60 mph in less then 6??

only IDIOTS would say no to that... and im a hardcore v8...now... how do we get a I-4 to those times lol

If Ford does go with a twin turbo V6 it will be as a replacement to their base V8's, not as an additional trim level.

But your logic is good.

Frankly, as I see it, we could have an I4 that beats the Mustang's V6, a V6 that beats the Mustang's V8, and a V8 that trounces everything. What isn't there to love?

mustangs new v8 will be over 340 hp apparently ... and no... the twin turbo v6 will be a new model replacing the v8 however...4.6 and 5.4 will be made for shelby mustangs
and shelby gt mustangs are fairly common...
340 < L76 <new r/t...uh oh 340< L76<new r/t< srt8... not even mentioning shelby models...*faints*...

I have a 2001 ss camaro, I had trouble with the LS1, somehow the block had cracked, so i replaced it with a LS2 from a 2006 wrecked corvette. I got the cpu and had it programmed. I still average 20 to 22 mpg on the highway with an 6speed tranny. I think chevy can do the same thing in the new camaro with the LS3, and even more with the V6. Without adding a stupid 4 cylinder to the options.
