Neither one of them is slicing the air like a scalpel.

The Camaro has a slightly smaller cross section and I think the coefficient is 0.34 on the SS -the spoiler helps reduce it vs the V6's.

Nope, the V6 is .36, V8 is .35.

Random question, and sorry if it makes me sound stupid but aren't Pirelli P-Zero tires rating to something like 204mph? Why would Chevy limit the speed of the car to 155mph and say it is based on the tires when in fact the tires can go much faster than that?

well it wasn't exactly all stock....

EU rules. Same people that called a huge tax "Value Added" lol ... nice way to describe them putting there hands in your pockets and limiting your speed.

I believe 4th generation Z28"S with Z rated tires were supposed to top out at 148mph. At least up until 1997. I don't know about the LS2's. I had my '97 to 135mph and climbing but that is where I backed off. I think I was getting close to the top because she was flattening out a bit at 135mph. Car was bone stock with performance package [ 3:23 ] gears with auto tranny. Be realistic here guys 175 mph is flying!!! and almost certain death if you lose control

top speed is 87mph... at 88mph, the flux capacitor kicks in and sends you back in time to where you were standing still and you have to start all over again.

I warned y'all that the next idiot that didn't use the search feature was going to get a stupid answer... and this is the first one... wait until the next idiot that asks this question... I've already got a ton of great answers for it.

4th generation 98-02 Fbody's (LS1's) were electronically limited to around 155mph or so.
With the limiter removed, the were capable of 160+mph.

Even the LT1 Fbody's were capable of 160mph (stock - with limiter removed).

There were no LS2 Camaro's. The GTO's have LS2's and they are very capable of 170mph (stock with limiter removed).

So the LS3 Camaro should have no trouble doing 170 -175mph (with the limiter removed).

I drive that fast commonly. Open highway is not a rare thing. Yes, 115 could be intrusive. Buuttt... this is just a safety thing. Buy some good tires if you arent getting the RS package, then buy a chip or get the limiter worked around some other way.

I can accept this explanation. I don't really think I'll ever hit that kind of speed BUT it sure would be nice for the car manufacturers to offer up the high-speed tires as an option and include a "disable the limiter" option with the purchase. Yeah I know it's far-fetched, I'm just sayin'
What you're suggesting is called the RS package (Better tires and 155 limit[go faster than that in a car and you're dumb]).... They beat you to it bro.
