With the tune in my car, when in sport mode. I have never been in a car that shifts faster than that. It is just amazing.

they'll always exist in sports cars and base trim levels on other cars. Maybe US manufactures might, but the Japanese and Koreans will probably be offering sticks in most of their lineups for a long time to come. |

Now you want to bring up losing your warranty, that's funny after all the mods I have seen on here I'm surprised that the car is still sold with a warranty?

Well, unlike the majority of manual drivers, I don't have any pot shots to take at the other camp, nor do I have any reasons (excuses?) on why I think manual is "better".
I prefer manual, simply because it is all I have ever driven, and all that I feel comfortable driving. I didn't buy a manual Camaro because it is manlier, better, or anything like that. (Although it is nice to be recognized by people with that mindset I suppose) I bought a manual Camaro because I always wanted a Camaro, and transmission choice was simply what I feel comfortable with. You see, first car my father had available to loan me was a manual. Sure, I did driver's ed and whatnot on an auto, learned the basics, but when it came time to have a car to drive to school and whatnot, a manual was what my father owned at the time and could spare to loan me. I baulked at first, so he said to me, "You go out with me and learn to drive it, or continue riding the bus. That's what I have, and some kids don't even have parents with a spare car to loan their son. Those are your options." So we took that 1985 Toyota Camry 5-speed out and I learned how to drive it. I drove that car from age 16 to 21, so when I went out to buy my own cars in the years that followed, I simply gravitated towards manuals because that's what I drove. So, three cars down, all manuals, and at age 29 I bought my Camaro, I just followed my habits thus far and bought a manual. I dislike Automatics, not because I think they are for girls, or not macho, or anything else along those lines. I just don't have much driving time behind them. At the age of 31, I have probably less than 6 months total driving time behind the wheel of automatics, and what I do have was driver's ed, and a few road trips in other family member's cars where I took a turn at the wheel for a few hours. So, I dislike automatics simply because I have very little experience driving them, and the few times that I have, I've brought the car to a screeching halt looking for a clutch and hitting an unusually wide brake pedal with my left foot, or shifted into neutral at a stop, and then tried to take off, which just resulted in me revving the engine. Stupid, embarrassing things like that. I don't feel like I have any control over things, and I honestly feel uncomfortable driving them. I may be the only person with a response like this, I dunno, I skipped ahead after reading the first six pages of this topic. But that's why I bought a manual, because it is all I feel comfortable driving. I may buy an automatic someday, or be forced to, with the decreasing take rate for manuals with the American auto-buying public. It will be a difficult day when I do, because I'll have to "unlearn that which I have learned." :( |

Sounds about right to me as well. To each their own. Had plenty of manuals, and I have nothing to prove. More comfortable to me to drive an auto.

Yep, the 2012's and 2013's have a new shifting algorithm that improved the speed of shifts by about 60% according to the video I posted on Page 9.

they're definitely easier to drive. I just took my M6 down to the beach for vacation 2 weeks ago (of all weeks I manged to go there on mustang week) and in all honesty, driving through the traffic and parking garages would have been a hell of a lot easier in an AT.

I'm just glad Chevrolet and team Camaro offer the car in both transmissions so everyone can get what they want and be happy regardless. I can tell you this, it is not easy to cross shop manual transmission equipped vehicles. Camaro is (thankfully) one of the only cars that offer the manual on every trim and engine option.
I still drive and do maintenance on my 1991 Chevy k1500 Silverado because it is a manual transmission, full size pickup truck. I've tried shopping for new trucks, and the few left that have manual as an option are always only paired with the weakest engine/lowest trim option. I so wish Chevrolet's Silverado team would take a cue from the Camaro team, and offer a pickup with the 5.3L engine and a six speed manual. I'd be the first in line to order one! Trying to dremmel rust, bondo fenders, repaint, and repair/replace worn out components on my 1991 every year is starting to get old, but I'll keep doing it until someone gets with the program and makes a newer model that I can actually drive. |

if your drive the camaro on a daily basis and are in stop and go traffic constantly an automatic is MUCH more convenient to drive than a manual..
On the other hand I feel that with a manual it is much easier so slow down faster and monitor your speed more carefully in case you pass a cop or whatever, you just let off the gas and it slows right down. Also the manual is more fun to drive IMO BTW I have an automatic V6 and the 6speed manual SS I love driving both
