to me this is all really funny guys. everyone has a great point and argument on their own behalf. But it also makes me think how ignorant we all are. i myself love the GTO and Camaro, but until i read this thread never knew how dumb i really could be. i feel the way everyone else does, but my dislike is/was for the f-body cars. i just dont see a real need for them on earth (plastic interior, shit seats, horrible styling, but are they fast? yeah) you get the point. At the end of all this someone out there really likes f-bodies the way we love our cars and does it really matter who would win in a frickin race neway? Im sure someone will flame me for this but its true.

Not a GOLFER a GOPHER!!
The day i did it the wind was blowing 30-45 mph up my ass so my stick had one hell of a Trap Speed, and the gopher knew i meant business when he came out of the HOLE HEADS UP!!! FWIW - This was a fall day and it was 64*F with the baromatic pressure falling

I completely understand why GTO owners are sensitive about the looks.. You can go to any message board on the internet (other than a GTO site) and find probably 50%+ of the people who think they are blah looking.
Power in statistics. Statistically people don't care for the look of the car. It as been compared to Cavilier or Sunfire since the moment it was released to the states. And it has been compared (in looks only) to those cars for a reason. People in general were very disappointed with the looks of the car. As the years go by, I have grown to like them more and more, and respect them. But for owners to get all butt hurt when someone calls it blah looking is funny. Because SOOO many people, mags, and forums all say the same thing. If you wanted a sexy flashy beast, you shouldn't have bought a GTO. Those are the Flashlight Drag races aren't they. I went to a few of those.
I went 3 or 4 times to the ones in Wayensburg PA. Oddly enough- I raced a 6.0 LS2 GTO with intake/exhuast/and 20 inch rims in my 2002 Trans Am WS6 (exaust, slp lid and short shifter, cheap tires) and I beat it in the 1/8th of mile. FWIW I trapped 110 stock, So I think with some bolt ons I could defiantly walk a camaro. I never got a chance to run at the track headers only though before the cam went in.
