I think that you may need a dealer's license to purchase a salvaged titled car or to even participate in that auction.

They said I could buy it back from them for $6500. The loan has to be paid off first. I have someone willing to give me $7500 for it, so I'm probably going to do it. I didn't think you needed a dealer's license to get a salvage title... have to ask them.

By the way - the VIN # is in this thread, there is a link to the salvage auction and it shows a picture of the VIN tag.

Dude I'm sorry, but BAAHAHAHAHAhahahaha that is really pretty damn funny. Lucille Ball once said that Comedy is Tragedy 6 months later. Try not to feel too bad. This is pretty damn funny and you will laugh along with friends you tell this story to in no time.

Sorry for your loss *snicker*!

Sorry OP, Having had a similar loss I know this is not one bit funny. I don't find any humor in anything about the loss of any of my past vehicles that met with untimely demise. I an positive I would not find it funny if anything happened to this car given how much more I care about it. Hope you get a new one soon & grow to love it even more.

That was pretty horrifying to see the damage. I wonder how well Adam's polishes would work at cleaning that up?

Also I do think the whole opening up the glove box and seeing a waterfall worth of water coming out was kind of humorous. Not the what happened to the car, but imagining someone opening up a glove box getting that is funny.

Now imagine that same scenario at the used car lot to a salesman

I guess you do need to have a dealer's license to buy a salvaged title car. The guy that wants to buy it from me has one. I'm trying to strike a deal with him, while trying to get more money out of the insurance company...

Trying to sell it behind the back of the insurance company? I might be wrong but once you submit a claim to the ins co, your ownership rights in the car are lost. The ins co now owns the car and will decide how it is sold.
You are correct, you need a dealer license or dismantler license to buy a salvaged car at auction.

They are aware of what we are doing. They are the ones that told us the procedure. They quoted us a salvage price, then just subtract it from the settlement price. Never done this before, so it's all a learning process. I can't pull a fast one on them, because I don't know what I'm doing!

$6500 is a killer deal, the engine is with that alone.
