I understand your logic, but there is a flaw in it.

The GT500 is a factory option and can be built from the ground up as a GT500 by Ford.

The ZL575 is a Camaro by an aftermarket company. Not GM.

In a comparison of the top factory trim Mustang and a top factory trim Camaro..then the SS vs GT500 is a fair comparison. Now is it "genuinely" fair? No.

When the GT500 and the mythical Z28 Camaro come out..then it'll be straight up fair.

New GT500 with a blown engine at the local performance shop where I get work done on my car. I was told the owner did a pully upgrade without getting it tuned.

I don't think people are realizing that the Mustang is gonna be more expensive than the Camaro. One of the Daily motion reviews said that their test car costs around $42k. That does include navigation and Sync, but also $2k for Brembo brakes.

I read a bunch of articles where people were praising Ford for putting the starting price of the GT car $1k less than the Camaro, but let's be serious. The Camaro 1SS comes with 20" Wheels and Pzero's to match them coupled with a Brembo's all around. I believe the GT has a premium for the Brembo's and 20" Wheels + Tires.

I do have to admit that the Ford Coyote engine sounds really great, and would love to test drive one. I would never buy it unless they change the shape of the car, cause to the average person, it just looks like a regular 2010 Mustang.

Agreed. You're going to pay alot more for your performance via Ford. This is how it's always been though. Low sticker price, but all the fun parts are expensive add-ons...

FWIW, a guy in my neighborhood has a '10 GT500 Vert. He said the dealer actually put on the smaller pulley, did the tune etc., has 700 or so hp.

With the new 5.0 coming out, GM better get some performance parts coming out as well as the new Z.
