Out to dinner in downtown San Jose I parked next to a red convertible Mustang. Then I noticed the back was way different (read: ugly). Is this the new Mustang? If it is, I don't care how many horses are in it. The back looks bad. And the convertible top (especially in that color) isn't so hot either.

And I'm not a Mustang hater by any means. I didn't hate the last one, and I kinda liked the early 2000s one.

Yep... 2010 Mustang... I feel the same way about the rear on them... and like you I've liked previous Stangs, having owned a 2002 and a 2005... but just not liking the rear of the 2010.... so went with the Camaro this time around..

I read a bunch of articles where people were praising Ford for putting the starting price of the GT car $1k less than the Camaro, but let's be serious. The Camaro 1SS comes with 20" Wheels and Pzero's to match them coupled with a Brembo's all around. I believe the GT has a premium for the Brembo's and 20" Wheels + Tires.

I do have to admit that the Ford Coyote engine sounds really great, and would love to test drive one. I would never buy it unless they change the shape of the car, cause to the average person, it just looks like a regular 2010 Mustang.
MT's car came in around 32k with the brembo and 3.73 gears, i say its a fair price, considering how much 19" pirelli tires cost. Brembo's aren't cheap ether. the mustang does give you more choices, and the Daily motion car did have every possible option.

MotorTrend's car cost was $39k...

Doesn't the 2SS and 2LT come with navigation?

Not a full up navigation system. It has OnStar, but thats it.

MT's car also had the full glass roof option, and was basically loaded with everything except it being a Convertible

Its not magic its physics. L99 300-320whp, 5.0 390+whp and 200lb lighter.

Its Not rocket science just simple math.
Can you show me a dyno of an AUTOMATIC GT that is 390whp?

Also...the 5.0 has been dynoed in the 390's and also at 377 both with a manual transmission.

You can never compare different dynos they are all different. Hell...even back to back pulls can be different on the same car.

Some ls3's have dynoed in the 390's as well. Some as low as the 350's. Dyno readings are all over the place. The LS3 that is in the camaro is SAE certified at 426 hp

Have you ever heard of SAE certification or even cared to read up on it? The 5.0 is 412hp. It will be SAE certified soon. No if and or buts about it. Bottom line you can argue it till you turn blue...the motor will be making + or - 1% of 412hp per SAE standard of certification.

Given the camaro losing a bit more through its IRS system I would bet the two cars (ls3 and 5.0) will be dynoing very close to one another. They also happen to perform nearly identical from the looks of the 3 different 1/4 mile tests of the mustang so far as well.

I cannot imagine MT's test car had the glass roof for any performance tests. There's no way.

You should probably read the post again. He said that granted the GT in the test had the two options, navigation and Sync, but the other options that match it up to the SS are fairly costly.
