It's standard on all Camaros.... Part of the Onstar Directions and connections portion of the 1 year free subscription... BUT in saying that, I just took a trip using it, even thought it was completely accurate I longed for more information, such as the time to arrival at destination, all it gave was distance to next manuver and which way to turn...Coming back I used my Tom-Tom....

I read a bunch of articles where people were praising Ford for putting the starting price of the GT car $1k less than the Camaro, but let's be serious. The Camaro 1SS comes with 20" Wheels and Pzero's to match them coupled with a Brembo's all around. I believe the GT has a premium for the Brembo's and 20" Wheels + Tires.

I do have to admit that the Ford Coyote engine sounds really great, and would love to test drive one. I would never buy it unless they change the shape of the car, cause to the average person, it just looks like a regular 2010 Mustang.
But to the average person the Camaro SS looks just like a V6 Camaro.... So really that is not a good reason...

It may or may not. I do know for a fact some of the test cars did have the glass roof.

Yeah to show it, but I guarantee that the glass roof was not used for any 1/4 mile or performance tests.

glass roof

One of the few things I don't like about the camaro.... the sunroof...

I'm not sure I'd want one on the camaro but I gotta say the glass roof is purdy dang cool.

If you read the motor trend article I think they mention that the car had most all of the options EXCEPT the glass roof.

They also weighed the car @ 3620 (base 3603)....so its not like it changed much.....so many details are also overlooked. So the argument that the base cars will go faster is laughable. They will only have 235 tires, lesser gearing and a whopping 20lb or so difference..the base car argument is worthless.

But yeah I agree...I think the glass roof is sweet as hell

I think people just make the "base car" argument based on other vehicles. For instance, on average my base R/T Challenger weighs in a whopping ~140 pounds lighter than the SRT. (my car, with a full tank of gas without me in it is just over 4000 pounds, something like 4016 or something like that).

For other cars..the differences are less.

Having owned a GM vehicle with OnStar in the past and having SNYC in my current car, I can tell you that you really cannot compare the two. If you want to keep the functionality of OnStar, you have to pay for it once the introductory "free" period is over. With Ford, there is no charge for SYNC or the navigation system. OnStar's navigation is audio-only while Ford's navigation is visual/audio and touchscreen. SYNC is not an option in the Mustang, it comes standard in all of them.

The Camaro's Onstar Nav, is also Visual, You get the directions displayed either in the radio display or in the DIC, or even both if you select it...
But I have to agree that Onstar directions lacks alot to be desired, it is not good enough to keep it after the free period is up..
One question, How do you update the maps on the Fords Nav system? does it cost to do that?

I agree, My point is there is much more to onstar than just voice promts for turns.

It is vastly more than a navigation system. That is just one of the things it does.

really it comes down to how Ford and GM have chosen to differentiate themselves from each other.

I don't know if one is better than the other... As you say they really do different things.

I wouldn't say one is better than the other from a broad market perspective. It's very possible I'd like Sync better than the C/C package from GM...

But I can't say I don't like the C/C either.

I saw a 2010 dark gray Mustang that had the taillights darkened to the same color. It looked pretty good.

Oh its not new (2010). Probably someone's mod. The driver modded the taillights to the color of the car.

it was a joke as to how slow the mustang is.... i think

Motortrend posted up an all out comparison between the three cars (SRT8 for dodge since the R/t doesnt really compare).

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...son/index.html

obviously the mustang wins, and it DID have the glass roof option. the mustang still handedly trumped the competition when it came to acceleration. but that was 99% because of its gearing advantage.

IMO the only situation where the mustang truly DOMINATES is handling.
(the reason why i got it over the camaro)
