My view is that GM has seen no need to bump up the power.

With Ford now putting 300 ponies in their base pony, that may be the reason they need to push things to the next level.
More power would probably come at the expense of fuel mileage which really is not an option.

As a consumer, you'd be stupid to 'ignore' the track package just because GM doesn't offer one. Infact that might be a selling point for the Mustang.

There is no validity to that argument either.
So by this logic you could add a drag package to a V6 Camaro and defeat a V6 Mustang, fairly? Or better yet, what if GM made the TT V6 option that is seen in the Leno Concept avaliable for purchase on a V6 camaro? That would be fair also? I'm sorry just not buying it.

You may can also point to the Mustang's better individual handling test because of it's relatively low HP and weight compared to the Camaro.
how is the advanced IRS not on a level playing field with an old solid axle? doesn't that sounds a bit backwards?

A performance package is mentioned, yes, but I see no mention of the SVT name anywhere.

Good thing I didn't mention the axles or that would have made sense lol.

It's fair to compare the SS to the track pack. Chevy basically said the track pack is built in. It's got 20 or 21" wheels and hi performance staggered tires.

As far as weight goes
The 20" wheels probably add 20-30lbs over a Mustang. The 21s probably add 30-40.
The IRS adds 50lbs-75lbs.
The 6 speed may add a little.

The rest is just because it's a bigger car. It's not because of any superior crash rating or rigidity. That's just making crap up to justify it. Out of the 3 I'm on record over and over as having the Camaro as my favorite in it's category but I certainly don't think it's without flaw.

I believe it was Ninjak that said SVT would offer it and that would make sense, because who else inside Ford would offer such a package?

They can charge whatever they want for it, they're a business just as everyone else. Besides, they still got a modest power upgrade, a huge interior upgrade, and a brand new body style. The body style won't be new anymore by the time 2011 rolls around, so in a way they paid to have a newer car.

Does it suck for the people that bought a 2010? Depends on if you bought it for more horsepower or a newer body. But anyone who at least did a google search knew to wait for 2011.

Now I can agree with a statement like this. By saying you can add any number of performance packages to a trim level and compare it to a competitor's same trim level with no packages added on to it seems a little unfair to me.

The way you are wording it seems legal. The way other mustang enthusiasts were wording it was "The 2010 GT price had already included the updates to the 2011. So there will be no price increase to the 2011."

but when your car already comes with the "far superior advanced" IRS suspension how would a solid axle even compare? isn't ALREADY coming with IRS it's own edge over a solid axle system, what is the need for a "track pack" when you have IRS said to be tuned at "the ring" ?

So that's where the confusion is coming from.

There are two different performance packs. One "performance package" for the V6, and the "SVT package" for the GT500. The SVT pack is not for the V6.

The GT will probably have a similar package, we'll see later this week.

Yes it is somewhat of an advantage. However, again, the IRS is standard on the Camaros and no special performance package was needed to add it. That just boils down to Ford staying with an older technology instead of offering the newer one.
