I did mine using billett aluminum ones, but it aint an easy fix. You will have carefully drill a hole (not very deep though) and pry out the gold ones leaving the chrome surround. They are held in place with a super sticky tape. You wont be able to save the gold ones cause you will end up cracking or breaking them. The ones I got came with new 3m tape.

You can also go the route of PMing overhaulengines, who does custom paint jobs for stuff like this. I got a front and back bowtie painted by him and it looks really unique and good. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for.
+1. Look for RiverCityCreations in the exterior venders section

I'm going to black out the gold as well. Another store on ebay explains it better, about the removal. They state you need to push the gold out from behind and it will break the gold. Seems like a real pain to remove the bowtie's, especially the rear. Then push/break out the gold, clean up the adhesive/glue on the bowties and deck lid. Apply the black inserts, which are raised and not flush to the chrome frame. Apply 3M to the rear bowtie and place it squarely on the decklid. You have a 2012 in your sig, which means you have no alignment pins in your deck lid. Which is good or bad. If you want to delete the rear, then great. If your replacing the rear, bad. Make sure you have references before you remove it, blue painters tape works fine, no residue. If I'm not satisfied with vinyl or plasti-dip, I will paint. More than likely, paint.

Post Headlight Armor Carbon Wrap is an option

You could go the Carbon Fiber Wrap look.

We have a DIY for the application of the bow ties on Camaro5 here in case anybody missed it. They are a pretty simple DIY.

More info in our vendor thread here

Search DIY Vinyl Bowties and Emblems.

I decided to buy a 12x12 piece of vinyl for $2. My car looks great IMO with them, not perfect but close to it and I have enough vinyl to do them again when I have time. I just watched the videos for help. Cleaned off bowties w alcohol, spray bowties with soapy water and spray vinyl. Place vinyl over bowites, luckily I had zero bubbles under the vinyl, but I pressed down on vinyl, used a hair dryer to lightly soften vinyl and I used a thin card to crease the vinyl between the gold and chrome pieces. Then I just sliced throughout the crease and wala!
