I bought my system 4 months ago and it came with one. Anyone know the reason for the removal?

Pretty sure it's a heat wrap to help keep the MAF sensor Read cooler...

Paul from Injen simply said that it was determined that it was not needed. You might contact him at paul_ho@injen.com and ask if that only applies to new units or if the old units can function okay without it. Again, I only had one solid rubber hose that attached in it's place.

Hot dog cooker. We use to do this on our snowmobiles on the exhaust pipe.
