Hrm...well this is new. If I was being a responsible driver I guess I would have monitored my before / after mileage with my AirRaid V2...buuutt I haven't!!

We have these tuners in stock and alreay set to go so all you have to do is plug in and download

New to me! I guess if this vaccum thing is true then it does make sense...but then again I can't say I've really noticed a shifting difference (I have an automatic). Maybe the shifting has changed, but not enough for me to have noticed any difference?

and about your handheld tuner....you must be addressing the V8s cuz as far as anyone here knows there is no handheld option for the V6 yet.

I only have around 400 miles on my car and really didn't drive it much before the Airaid went on but I was wondering the same thing. I am around 16 and that seems aweful low, even for mostly city style driving.

Wow, that is low! I was averaging 20-21 mpg on my city driving Houston traffic daily commute before the Injen, and I'm currently averaging 23-25. My highway mileage was 27-28 before and 31-33 after.

400 miles is nothing though...you are nowhere near being "broken in" yet on this engine.

Which may explain the mpg's, everything is still tight as a drum, more hp should come along with mpg's after it's broke in a bit more.

I clocked before and after air aid on same highway driving. Maybe a 1 mpg gain with air aid...

Possible problem

I may have found the problem. Where the vacuum line enters the engine, it was dislodged. I only noticed it because the o-ring is a bright colour. I reset the mileage counter on the way home and it seemed normal. See attached picture. I will keep you posted. This may be the reason the others are getting poor mileage too. Check it out guys. Let me know if it was an issue with the negative ones with a CAI installation.

Yea, that could do it. For the record my average mpg since the engine was new has been about 19.5 with I guess about 70/30 city stop and go and freeway with either 87 or as I run now 91 octane, both 10% ethonal.
city is 17-18
freeway is 31 at 68 by the d.i.c., at 65 its 32 or so.
This is with Airaid V2 and modded air box and magnaflow exhaust. Only drop I ever saw was with Airaid v1, lost about 2 on the freeway.the mods may have added 1 on the freeway but not sure and none around town that I can tell. In all fairness to the mods I haven't been trying for the best mpg since I got the car!! not flooring all the time but just not watching it either. No egg under the right foot

I went from 21.4 mpg to 21.2 mpg after injen. However, I am to blame... because I've been flooring the car a lot LOL... i love the sound too much... its too much fun O_o

I seriously need to man up & try upgrading my intake. From the videos I've seen it doesn't seem too difficult. I just have a fear of screwing something up.

Don't worry, its really easy, at least for the Airaid. Ingen just takes more work.

does anyone know what kind of sealant that I could get to go on the oil diffuser and rubber pieces? my intake comes in friday and I have heard of several people having problems with the hose fittings. and on one of the install pages here, the guy was having the same issue. so i want to go ahead and seal it so i dont have an issue...

what type of sealant though? just and rubber sealant or what?

The Injen intake isn't all that hard to install either. Some have even done it without taking the tire off.

Install for all of them is pretty cut and dried, and is strictly bolton. If you can turn a wrench, you can install an intake.

Btw, if you add in the time it takes to modify the AirRaid box, I'm sure it's close to the same amount of time needed to install an Injen. If you choose to modify the AirRaid box.

The oil diffuser is no longer included with the Injen intake. There is only a connecting rubber tube. It is a little long so I trimmed a few inches off of it.
I used a couple of small plastic cable ties to hold it securely in place. Everything worked like a charm.

I'm new to the whole modding thing too, and the Injen was easy to install. I did take the tire off, but I also did it at night with nothing more than my old man holding a flashlight over my shoulder! Still a piece of cake to install. The directions include photos and are idiot proof...unless you are a new breed of severe idiot, then get some !

Oh, and to the OP, thanks for the warning on the vacuum line!
