It's very wishful thinking to assume that a V6 Camaro will do any more than run with a Mustang GT. The closeness will scare GT drivers sometimes, but I wouldn't expect to see many wins posted in the V6's favor.

Want to win races? Buy the V8 camaro for a few dollars more.

Best money you'll spend..(not that the 300hp v6 is bad...) I have the v6 in my CTS and I think at 4000 lbs with an automatic it runs to 60mph in about 6.2.

I'd be surprised if the 300 lb lighter v6 camaro does it in much less than 5.9..

5.2 aint gonna happen for the V6 camaro. IMO

the 2010 mustang will run a 5.0 at most because last years did 5.1 and the bullitt ran a 5.0 and this is essentially the same car with a few tweaks, I'm expecting a 4.9.

So what do you guys think will the stock v6 camaro take the stock gt in the quarter or atleast 0-60
Won't be a comparison ..... Torque .... the V6 stock for stock won't be able to keep up ..

The very fact that there's even a discussion about the V6 Camaro taking on the V8 Mustang shows you just how badly Ford dropped the ball on it.

There's NO discussion on the V6 Camaro beating the V8 Stang. People who think the V6 can beat the V8 Stang are confused and think that HP = speed, and that weight and torque don't matter.

It's not about beating the GT, it's the fact that the V6 Camaro is even in the same CLASS as the GT. It shouldn't be. And it shows how badly Ford dropped the ball.

The V6 Camaro won't beat the V8 Stang, but it's kinda embarrassing on Ford's part that the V6 'maro wouldn't lose by much, more than likely.

That's the point I was making. The SS would eat the GT's lunch, vomit it up and feed it to it.

What is even worse for Ford is that there are very few discussions about the V6 Mustang VS a V6 Camaro, which is a more apples to apples comparison that a GT to a V6.

I think Ford is tucking their tail between their legs and walking away backwards from that one to be quite honest.

Do they even have a 300 hp V6 (naturally aspirated nonetheless) in the works at Ford?

I don't think so. I heard something about a 250 hp V6, but nothing about 300+. Though I don't follow ford much. I honestly think if one were to buy a 1LT and use the 5,000 saved over a GT, you could add a full pedders suspension and enough bolt ons to get you past a GT in the 1/4. We're talking 14.5 stock vs. 13.7 stock. Not hard to make up that gap.

Oh please, the GT is probably 3-4 tenths of a second slower to 60 than the SS,so by your reasoning, the SS would even be in the same class as the V6,so wouldn't it be Chevy that would have dropped the ball?? This is a stupid argument,if you think 5 flat is in the ball park as 5.9,then you are negating any SS arguments over the GT because the GT is much closer to the SS in performance than it is to the V6.
Once again, narrow minded views on these cars. Look at the V6 Mustang,it puts up decent numbers......cold dead worthless magazine numbers......but it is an absolute snore to drive. Math is one thing, driving is another and if you think a V6 Camaro can give you the same viseral thrills of a V8 Mustang or Camaro, you are out of your mind. C'mon, use your brain,a V6 Altima can run with a LT1 Z28,but which is more fun???
The V6 Camaro will be a wonderful car,it will probably be a incredible car for the money, but a GT killer it will not be.
