You probably had a life back then. I was and still am a big computer geek, but I don't get on the latest greatest technology. It's crazy that usenet is still around.

I think the difference in many peoples mind is that you can listen to a single for free via the radio. And usually, you're also able watch the music video for free on youtube. Now, when you get into downloading an entire album, thats a problem. I'm not sure who wouldn't equate that to stealing.

On the other side of things ... plenty of people go and buy the full album after downloading a number of singles from it or from the artist. In those instances it's increasing sales, just like radio play (recording artists don't get paid from that either). Keep in mind, most money of the money they make is from concerts and merchandise. The artist gets less than a buck from a CD sale.

So if they just stole your wheels it would be ok? Lets face it radio and youtube are ad supported revenue streams. Downloading a song without paying for it IS stealing. When I was younger I used Morpheous and a few other sites but I got tired of crap bitrates and virus's and stuff that wasn't what it was supposed to be. I usually just buy a CD on release day for about $10 and I have a physical copy and don't have to deal with any BS or legal issues. I have used itunes to download but only when given a giftcard. I'd rather have the CD. There are plenty of options still out there for "free" music. Torrent sites come to mind.

I download songs off rhapsody for free. There a trick if you have Safari go to windows activity and when you start playing a song pause it look for the file ending in mp3 double click and it downloads the songs
Mac way not sure how to on windows
