streaming music quality

Has anyone else noticed the poor quality of streaming music from your iphone to the radio??

Am I just expecting to much in quality from streaming music from Pandora?

I have the Boston Acoustics sound system, and when i stream music I can't ever hear any base and it sounds like im listening to radio quality, but if I hook the iphone up 2 a Aux cord and play music then the sound is Great!

May be a dumb questions, but all responses are welcome!

The music over bluetooth sounds great from my Blackberry Storm.

HTC Touch Pro with WM6.5 playing a MP3 off the phone sounds great but streaming Pandora sounds like you're describing. But the Windows Mobile Pandora app is pretty bad so it is likely that it's just that causing it.

Streaming Pandora via Bluetooth vs streaming high quality MP3 or AAC over Bluetooth sound different to me. Pandora suffers from compression artifacts on 3G or edge but sounds pretty good over Wi-Fi (i.e. parked in the driveway).
Try direct connect via aux line and stream Pandora that way. May not sound half-bad as long as you're in 3G coverage.
I've started to notice music streamed over Bluetooth doesn't quite sound as good as plugging my iPhone into the USB port and playing music that way.
But you can't beat the convenience of Bluetooth, especially when a call comes in!

The streaming quality will depend more on if the cell signal is edge vs 3g vs wi-fi. The quality of the sound will depend on how much bandwidth is available and at what bitrate the music is streaming. It will also depend on if the iPhone using A2DP which was only available after the OS 3.0. If it is not connecting with stereo bluetooth then the quality will sound worse because it will only be mono. The headphone will always be stereo.

Yea i think you nailed it right on the head, the best quality is undoubtedly when connected straight via aux cord to the iphone and listen to itunes

But it just some much more convenient to have it connected through bluetooth. I think I can sacrifice the sound for the little amount of time that I am actually in the car.....

I'm not super familiar with the iPhone, however, on the Blackberry Storm there is an option in Pandora to enable "High Quality" (I'm assuming 128kpbs) streaming audio. This sounds at least 10x better than the Standard Quality (I'm assuming 64kbps) stream. Maybe there are some options in your Pandora app to switch streaming quality as well?

How exactly are you getting yours to work? I have the HTC Touch Pro 2. I did the discovery for both bluetooth headset and for the streaming audio but when I try to connect to the device from the car it can't connect.

Bluetooth wireless technology has raw data rate of up to 1Mbps

the bluetooth bandwidth is far greater than even a cd requires.
Consider the source data as the bottleneck

You're going to the music one by pressing menu on the aux screen, right? It should then make you put the code 0000 in on your phone. It just works for me. Do you see GMusicConnect on your phone? What ROM are you using? May I suggest one of the ones from the xda-developers.com forum?

I figured it out. I already had GMusicConnect discivered on my phone but when I tried to connect from the car stereo it wouldn't connect.

I figured out how to connect it though. At any time I just connect to GMusicConnect from my phone and the stereo automatically switches.
