From the picture it looks like they got you all the way down to bare metal. :/ The only way to fix that is repainting the door. You could try buffing it out a little to make it less noticeable, but then you are just removing the clear coat around it. If you don't have the money to replace it or buff it, I would put some glaze over it and wax it. If you don't protect it, since there is no paint, it could start to rust.

So sorry man...

Some jaded idiot did this to me with his door a couple nights ago. Luckily I was sitting 3 feet from the car when he did...

Ouch, I can't look at this. I Feel your guys' pain. A couple of years ago I had my Toyota MR-S come back fresh from paint with new C-ONE body panels. Parked it outside a mall in Murrieta only to come back and see a fresh pair of lateral racing stripes etched into my newly painted front bumper. Unfortunately the artist didn't leave his credentials so the repair came outta pocket. Luckily I've been in the clear with this car thus far *knocks on wood* but who knows what type of A-hole tomorrow might bring in an unsuspecting parking lot.

Revo1, I see you're in the Fresno area as well. Where did this happen?

4 kids, looked like college freshman, all wearing sorority T-shirts. I was already eyeing them, as they were parked next to me and takin their time getting into their ride. They had obviously noticed the car and made gestures toward it as they walked by...

Anyway they seem like they're about ready to finally take off, so I turn back around and return my attention to the table. All of a sudden my alarm goes off. I immediately jump up to check the car and sure enough... Dent/scratch. The car in question is backin out hurriedly now, and the passenger (douche in question) has his eyes obviously averted.

SO, I step up to the car and (open hand) give their hood a coupe good smacks to get their attention. The car stops, and the rest was conversation. The douche that hit the car spluttered alot, and kept shrinking further into his seat. He refused to give up any info, and the other 3 just shrugged until I told them straight out, "no one's leaving until I get some info from SOMEBODY".

The driver then stepped up and provided me with his insurance info etc, and they went on their way. Feel kinda bad that the driver has to take the fall when he was apologetic, and seemed like a decent kid. The 'funny guy' in the passenger seat should've paid, (or got his a$s whooped, or both) for his attitude alone, but what could I do?

He was already seated when the alarm went off, so I can't see any possible explanation that could prove this to be accidental. No reason to swing your door open if you're already sitting down...

Long story for a small incident, but I was pretty PO'd all night, and most of yesterday... Thanks for the rant guys, felt good

rule of thumb for me is if you can 'feel' the scratch, then its too deep to buff

sorry that happened pal. not more then a month after I purchased a 2500$ body kit and a 2000$ in paint to get it fitted on my 350z, some asshole hit the front bumper and cracked it and drove off. very frustrating.

this is why we cant have nice things : (

I can't stand this kinda S#!T... People have absolutely no respect, to the point it infuriates me. A lot of people are financing their cars, and I'm pretty sure, strive to keep them in pristine condition for the length of their term (and far past that!! [Classics]) Revo and gkiser, I want to apologize on behalf of the dbags, but truly, I feel they deserve nothing less than facial reconstruction.

I work hard to keep that car lookin good- the disrespect for my hard work bugs me almost more than having to pull the dent...

Holy crap. This is why people suck :-(. From experience I can tell you that nothing shirt of repainting the panel will make it 'like new' again.
