The car is currently the subject of an ongoing legal investigation. It has been reportedly confiscated by federal authorities to determine if there was fraudulent activity involved in the restoration of the car.

I hate to argue, BUT.....if this car is a real Z/28 with the Rallysport appearance, then the Z/28 emblem is the only emblem that should be in the grille. The Z/28 model takes presidence over the RS trim. Just like a Supersport. You never see a RS trimmed Supersport with RS in the grille center, do you?

The car was a pre production car if i remember right, thats how it came from GM. I defended that this car is correct when this auction was current last year, I started the same thread way back then.

EDIT: Don't read what I typed, read what I meant. I am such a dork some times. The RS-Z/28 would have only the Z/28 emblem on the grill, not both.

I understand that this '69 might be some type of pre-production car, but something else is kinda screwy too. The fact sheet above says it has a M-20 Muncie, as far as I know, ALL '69 Z's came with the M-21 standard, and you could upgrade to a M-22. I've never heard of a M-20 in a '69 Z. Hmmm, sounds fishy to me. Everything on these cars is just too easy to fake these days (even the P-O-P), especially by a professional. Heck, it's getting to the point now that you never really know if it is true matching numbers or not. That's one of the reasons I ordered a 2010, at least I know my new one will be correct and original!!!

The only options you could NOT get on a 1st generation Z were AC and automatic transmission. All muncie's were available.

And by the way this car has been discussed endlessly on other camaro sites and it's a rebody. (camaro.net, CRG, and others)

Shame people fool around with the trim tags and make it something it wasn't. Any updates on the investigation?

The car was not impounded as someone had stated to me. There were some legalities involved though. In any event Ron Pratte still has the car and is planning on keeping it. You can read up on everything about this car here:

Better have some time on your hands if you read this link and the links within it!
