It sounds to me like each event will be great! I'd recommend trying 'em all out. Perhaps your group chooses one this year and another the following and so on .

The gates are always open to you during the Carlisle GM Nationals. We appreciate your consideration.

Sincerely,

Lance

Calling all members of the ACC!!!!! Let's discuss this now and try to decide where the Canadian Caravan wants to go. Then we can get in on some group hotel rates!!! Regardless of where, this year I'M IN!!!!
Here's another IDEA...maybe we can plan this TRIP and make it the Camaro5 Fest 2.1 for the East/Central Coast and whoever couldn't make it to the C5 Fest 2 in Arizona!!!! (Without naming it that way) ...but we can still plan this Trip to one of the 2 Nationals in June!! Then we can post this IDEA on the other threads...

We just need to pick one...
Just an idea....
Feel free to post this on the other threads...

I agree... definately going to both the OCC Nationals in St. Catherines (all welcome... but I wouldn't bother having your 5th gen judged against me ) and also to one of the shows down south (GM or Camaro). I agree that hitting both may not be feasible. Too much to see - too little time. Too bad they're on the same weekend. Agreed - we need to see the events schedules for both to decide.

010 Camaro SS - I agree it's still early. But, as you said yourself, rooms do book up early. I for one am all about advance planning. I'll book rooms tomorrow if I decide LOL. For St. Catherines, I booked my room about a week ago and they still had rooms available. I too heard back in June 2010 that they were low on rooms but I'm not sure that's true.

Since folks have already started planning time off, etc. to attend the Nationals, we kept the show the same weekend as it's been for years - the weekend after Father's Day.

The ACA held the Camaro Nationals at Carlisle for 12 years and they have asked the Maryland Camaro Club to take it over, rather than letting the Nationals as we knew them - die.

010 Camaro SS - what did you have issues with at the 2010 Nationals? If you can give me specific problems, I can try to insure the problem doesn't perpetuate to the new location.
2 questions for you - Why would you have your event on the same date as Carlisle and is it true that the events venue is less than ideal? I've heard that you have no outbuildings to conduct judging or house the pricier stuff.

Thanks.

Funny but true!!

Nice one Hylton, but he got the big hardware.
Michelle and I are booked in at the hotel in St Catherines already.
I might clean mine and trailer it down next year to take that trophy away from him.

First - a brief hisory.....

The Camaro Nationals started as Camaros at Carlisle in 1999, put on by the ACA at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. This is the only show and group that has ever had an event there that was not a Carlisle Productions event. Seeing the show grow, Carlisle Productions built the GM Nationals around the Camaro Nationals show. The Camaro Nationals were NEVER put on by Carlisle Productions. The ACA had an annual contract with Carlisle which they chose not to renew for 2011.

The Maryland Camaro Club has provided day of show and setup support for the ACA for the past 6 years. The ACA asked us to take over the administrative end of it as well and are working closely with us, lending their expertise and guidance on putting on a successful show that they have worked so hard over the last 12 years to attain and grow. Karl Scheffy, Rick Gawel and Bud Scolastico (and their spouses) are an important element in keeping the show the same high quality event attendees have come to know and expect. Bud is remaining on the show committee - he is also a member of the MCC.

We kept the date the same - the weekend after Father's Day because people were used to the date and have already planned to attend the Camaro Nationals on that date. The Legends, Bowtie and Heartbeat judges are on board with the move and will be at Frederick.

Let me clear up a bit of misinformation - we DO have buildings for indoor judging and display areas. They are the same type of buildings that were used at Carlisle - metal buildings, with cement floors, fully enclosed and NOT used for housing livestock. The building for judging is larger than Y building. The area we will be using for the show field and vendor/sponsor/concession areas is flat and grassy. In short, the venue is very similar to Carlisle. When we were looking for a new location, we had very specific parameters we were looking for. Some of the venues didn't have everything we required - Frederick Fairgrounds did.

If you have any questions, please post, PM or email me.
