That odd when I first got mine I made the mistake of puting 87 in it and it did nothing but ping, I only use the best now

To the naysayers about running 91+ octane in a car that is designed for a higher octane fuel, do the math. Physically record your gas mileage between fill-ups on full tanks of 87 and 91+, respectively, and observe that it's usually worth it to just run premium despite the additional cost.

The car can absolutely run on 87 with no problems, but it's designed for peak performance with octane at 91+. You bought a $30k+ performance car, and you're griping at the additional $0.23/gallon that it begs from you in fuel? Hmm...

Higher the octane, the cleaner the burn. Keeps combustion chamber clean and it does give you better power. The easier and cleaner the burn, the better. You pay more because its refined better. Like a good scotch.

Exxon 93. What's a coupla extra bucks in price difference from lower octane (and cheaper) gas when you're driving a performance vehicle?

I use the 91 Octane from Costco, have not had any problems. I really do not drive it that much, I have had it since Aug 09 and only have 3400 miles. I will probably use the 93 Octane when I go to C5II to see if I notice the difference.

You should not notice any ping... the knock sensor will detect it before you hear it and retard your timing. Not too noticeable in everyday driving, but your engine won't make much power w/o spark advance. But you will definitely notice at WOT, and the dyno will notice as well.

I have put lower octane in mine before and really noticed the car didnt pull as smoothly throughout the power band like it did before , especially in the first 3 gears , so I did the fuse pull after a tank or two of 93 and havent looked back.

I have been using the Mid-Grade "89", If I want to jump to the 93, whats the best way to do it. I heard its not good for your engine to jump up after using lower grade fuel.
