Ive never had the paper cartridge type before, it's always been the metal ones that screw on the bottom or side of engine

Yea, but what do you think is inside of that metal thing though?

No, I know I didn't have to, but I kinda am a geek that way. I am, as you also probably are, infatuated with anything Camaro.

I feel like my V6 woke up after having Royal Purple in for 5k. It's so much smoother, and I noticed on a cold start it takes less time for the RPMs to drop to normal idle. It might be $8/quart but it's worth every penny to me. It's the blood of your engine. Don't skimp!

And be careful on adding the 6 qts as you may have a 1/2-1 quart still in the engine that didn't drain. Put in 5 then start measuring the dip stick till it reads up to the beginning of the top hash marked area. If oil covers the top hash area you have a extra 1/2 qt or so in.Its O.K. but if you want accuracy and watching oil level do it this way( per my dealer also)
And remember levels are when oil is warm, not cold.

Also Pennsoil Ultra is top notch synthetic also. Mobil one good but has shown in the past to thin out once hot to more like 5-20. Dont want that in my high revving v6.

3 Best filter to use? AC Delco (stock filter, found great deal for 6 on Ebay the other day)
4 What do I do with old oil? Take to places like Autozone. They will take it for you and recycle it.
5 Synthetic or not? Yes, Synthetic
6 How many miles should I wait? I did the first change at 600 miles and each change there after around 6000 miles which was 50 – 60 % of the oil life (per the DIC)
7 Is there a thread on here that'll answer all these questions? Yes, many threads on this subject. Use the search button.

Your right this will save you money, and give you the satisfaction of working on YOUR OWN CAMARO.
synthetic oil is NOT required for the v6!..it's in the manual!..IF you have the 2010!
