I bought a new VW, and told the salesguy it better not be on the car. It was. I made him pull it off on the showroom floor in front of the manager and everything. Granted there weren't too many customers looking around. I hate that stuff. When I worked at a car dealer, I still didn't have it on my cars from them.

I just got mine like two weeks ago and it had a big dealership sticker right about the driver side tail lights. I removed the sticker with my fingers and then put a little pit off gas on a paper towel and wiped off the remaining residue. Worked like a charm and you can't tell anything was ever there.

I told my dealer if they put any stickers or badging of any kind on it, I would not buy it. I told them the same thing about the front plate bracket.
It's your car. Tell the dealer to remove it. |

very tacky for them to do it, but don't have them remove it as they will probably use a screw driver

When I bought my car--
Dealer put in writing, without me asking, "No dealer sticker, no drilling for front plate". I ask if they had dealer stickers (most CA dealers don't, just the license plate bracket with their name) and he laughed and said "no, but we do have drills". Cracked me up.

DO NOT let the dealer touch it. Do it your self, it's not that hard. Heat gun or a blow dryer and a little wax. Piece of cake.

Tell them to take it off. It's not insulting, they should be catering to you anyway if you're paying thousands of dollars for a car.

I told my salesman before the car arrived, no dealer sticker and no drilling for front plate. He had no problem with it.

I would have the dealer remove it as the have the gear to do it. However if you don't want to ask them too.
It may seem that these are industrial-stick stickers, however, with a few simple tools and about ten minutes, you can easily remove this sticker without damaging the paint on your new, or used, car. To remove the dealership sticker, you will need to gather several items: Goo-Gone (or any other Goo-Removal Product), Plastic Spatula, make sure you do not use a metal spatula, Tar Removal Spray, Warm Soapy Water and a rag. Once you have gathered all of these products, which are easily bought at most home and auto stores, you will want to wash the sticker and the surrounding areas with the soapy warm water. Dip your rag, or sponge, into the water and gently wash the sticker several times. This will soften the sticker and will also help prevent any type of residue to be left behind. After you have done this you will want to take your Tar Removal Spray and apply a liberal amount directly onto the sticker. Make sure that you apply this spray onto the outer edges of the sticker as well as directly in the center. Allow the spray to soak into your sticker for at least two minutes before moving onto the next step. Once the spray has been settled into the sticker, you will then want to grab the edge of the sticker and begin to slowly lift it up. After there is enough clearance for you to place your spatula under the sticker, slowly scrape off the sticker, using your hands to guide the spatula. This process may be quick, or slow, depending on the sticker your dealership used. Your sticker should come off fairly easy, however, if you notice any sticker residue left over, you will want to take your Goo-Gone and scrub away the rest of the glue. However, if you not that that your sticker is not coming up easily and is tearing, than you will need to take a blow dryer, and apply heat directly onto the sticker for around three minutes. This will loosen the glue on the sticker and it will come right off. |
