1 7/8 is the best all around header for the Camaro. It's not too big of a header for a bolt on car and it will benefit you more as you do more mods.

1 3/4s long tubes have better torque curves from my experience, 1 7/8ths make more hp and are better suited for further upgrades (heads/cam/blower/ ect).

Mine are the Borla. No cats.
If 7 HP is all that's lost, and somw end torque is gained, I see no problem. However, I'm sure it'll change the more power you run through. I've yet to see a bigger build using Borla. I'm about to find out. I'm guessing it's overstated as far as the difference going forward. |

My take on it is 1 3/4 is fine. If I do any more mods other than headers and what I have now they will be minor, because I don't race (I just like the sound and a bit more response) so for me a few more ponies isn't anything to sweat.

Seems kinda high. My torque right now is higher than my power. I'm boosted of course, but wow. 30+? That's a lot. I just don't want to buy more headers. And won't. |

My car pulled 411 rwhp and 412 rwtq with 1 3/4" KOOKS. That's only down about a few HP that what is norm for 1 7/8".
Now...I got a great deal on my because they were used. The extra $500-$600 wasn't really worth the extra money for me since I'm not trying to squeeze every HP I can and only plan to add a Cam at most some day down the road. However, I'll say that if I were buying new I would've definately bought 1 7/8". If you like the Borla and it fits your budget and you don't plan to do big upgrades then you'll be fine. If you're not stuck on Borla then you should probably consider the 1 7/8" in case you want to add stuff down the road. Plus...if for some reason you need to sell them, they'll sell much easier. Just my take.

![]() Sorry. ![]() So how bout approach it from a different angle in this thread. Why WOULD someone go with 1 3/4 headers? And why do they even make them like that for this car? |

Honestly like I said a few hp isn't enough to sell me to a bigger header. I guess if someone was going to give me the 1 7/8" for the same price, then sure
I also didn't get kooks. I got a less expensive brand, which should do me fine. I realize there are a lot of people who race at the track, but it's not really my style, just sayin I guess it comes down to personal preference.

True. But some people might get irritated when people tell them that their headers are not good headers. (or whatever the item discussed at the time)
And I've heard 'experts' say that the 1 3/4 are a killer on power. And you can't get 600 rwhp with 1 3/4 and not break something. But I've also heard some say that anyting short of 3" exhaust will not be good for even 500rwhp, and some say it's not gonna hurt till near 650 rwhp. Who knows. Unless you personally test them all, or someone does every set-up imaginable and post the results, I guess we'll never know. |

Why does the torque and horsepower curve not meet at 5252 RPM on the STOCK pull like the rest of graphs?
Horsepower Formula: HP = (Torque x RPM)/5252 HP and TQ are equal at that RPM and should be located at the same point just like your other graphs, why is it off on the stock pull? |
