Curious, why do you feel the need to buy a new car every year? Do you really just have that much expendable cash laying around?

If you do have that cash then why not get something so much better? Im talking CTS V, GT500, Corvette etc...

Someone who can afford to keep getting new 30k+ cars every year should be able to afford those rides almost easily.

And very nice times for a bone stock car, Mustangs definitely rule the streets in terms of performance right now, followed closely by Camaro. Sorry imports...

You will notice a power increase and the transmission will get a crisper beyond 1500 miles as the engine and transmission get broke in.

I hope you enjoy your 5.0, thank god you stayed with an American company. I would love to see pic's and keep me in the loop as you start modding the car.
Lol @ a German only liking American cars, its just the last thing youd expect tbh.

I looked at both before buying my SS. I liked the 5.0 enough to actually consider it and actually had a build sheet on a 2011 GT 5.0 California Special. Wasn't going to pay the $650 a month they wanted on it...

Of the two, I love my Camaro more. For one, I don't feel cramped, which with my size 15/16 shoes, is the most important aspect of the car. The GT was very fast, and the last one I took out was an auto 3.55 with the 19's...

I know what you mean about feeling the ride a bit more with the Camaro vs. the Mustang, but I'll tell you I still prefer both the sound and feel of the Camaro. If anything, the only real complaint I have with my Camaro is the stupid 1st to 4th crap..

guess i just have automotive A.D.D, I keep a car about a year and then something else catches my interest and i end up with that. to give you an idea.. I am 46 and have owned over 100 muscle cars since i was 18 years old. what if suddenly they quit making these high power muscle cars just like they did in the early 70's? at least i will have owned and driven a great many of the legends when they were new.

Nice writeup man, very unbiased and almost exactly what I would expect. I have a bud that has a mn6 5.0 w/ the Ford factory Whipple blower. I think he got it after seeing how great my car ran w/ a whipple. Lol..

Anyways, I did want to point out that unless you drag race often, driving a manual at the track is not going to lead to good ET`s. I would expect the Camaro would have run a 13.1-13.2 w/ the july weather and w/ a seasoned drag race driver. Drag Racing = Automatic > Manual. Still slower than the Mustang but the gap would have been closer.

There is a simple rule to Mustang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger: look at all 3, sit in all 3, test drive all 3, and at the end of the day, buy whichever one you like best. For me, it was the camaro. I wanted to like the mustang, but just couldn't.

I used to go through this with sportbike riders all the time with Honda vs. Kawi vs. Ymi vs. Suzi; they'd be driving themselves nuts reading magazine and coming up with all this crap as to which one is better and my answer was "they are so closely matched, especially when compared to others, just go look and sit on them, and buy the one that you like the way it looks and feels the best"

Nice E/Ts in the 5.0, they are quick and the auto in the 5.0 are very nice, get a little more seat time in it and let us know how it is working out for you.

Thats almost exactly what the Mustang I drove ran.

So much for "12.8's are glory passes" comments.

regarding the Camaro jumping around on roads and the Mustang not, it is most likely an issue with the stickier tires on the stock SS. A friend of mine lives in the pacific NW and he was telling me how the roads are rarely re-surfaced out there due to the mild winters and the roads develop grooves over time and this causes the stickier tires to get stuck in the grooves. and create a "hopping" feel. He said his summer tires did that a lot more than his all season tires.
