Huh? Usually when new cars come out the people that want the first ones pay the top dollar. I have no reason to think it will be different for this car.

Ross Downing Chevrolet in Hammond. Wow! 9-3 is pretty good. Maybe my dealership isn't what I thought it was. I'm number 8, and I'm pretty sure there were a few V6's in front of me.

I'm paying pretty good dollar! Good PR goes a long way as well.

Nobody expects a kid right out of college to drive a new car.

What does that mean: "lock one in"? I think these cars will be all over the place in a year or so, because the car really looks like a winner for the General. I know GM certainly wants the Camaro to be a part of the resurrection of the company and I think the deals will be there like other Chevy products after the car is out a little while. I guess I don't relate to having to be the first on the block to have one of these cars.

Patience grasshopper!

Insurance I already had quoted around 130/month. Plus most any engineering job i've seen is in the 50k+ range, and most of my classmates that have gotten an job so far are starting at 55k-60k. So i think i can pull off paying for it, considering all i spend any money on is cars, dirtbikes and necessities. Just gotta land a job really....
I agree with some other posters -- what's the rush? You have a 98 Z28 already, so it's not like you have a POS.

And as far as buying now to avoid price increases, I don't buy it. I heard the same exact line from my salesman when I ordered my 2005 Mustang. And sure enough, there was a price increase a couple months after I ordered. It was about $200. But you know what? After the initial frenzy, it wasn't long before dealers were selling Mustang GTs well below MSRP, so even with the price increases, cars were selling for less than I paid. And the next couple years after that, the actual prices that people were paying were even less! Good things come to those who wait, and it seems like an especially good idea for you, at least until you gain secure employment...

I mean, Nobody knows wether there will be a markup or not. Get it locked in at sticker or just above. And who knows what kind of problems GM will have 6 months from now. I don't underestimate the situation. Also who knows what kind of possible gas tax they could put on them. Among any other unforseen problems. That's all. Just speculating on what his hurry may be. I probably won't buy til January.

Anyways, they say they need to sell 100,000 camaros a year to be profitable. Yet somehow they cant get the 11,000 preorders done till october? How the hell could they ever sell 100,000 cars a year if they cant even make 11,000 in six moths??? Honestly do they plan to have 80,000 V6's sittin on the lots while people still wait for v8's in september or october? are they saying V8s wont be on lots even 6 months after production starts...i know thats not the case with challengers. Im just frustrated because the second i get a job secured I'll order, but if thats not untill april or may i guess im screwed. Anyone wanna shed some light on this? I really was hoping to be able to have one by the end of summer
You're right. It doesn't make sense that they'd build only 11 000 in 6 months if they plan on selling ~100 000 a year. Thats why they're not doing it that way. Estimates put the pre-orders as being filled before the end of the summer, with only a few rare possible exceptions.
