Glad to hear you're ok, btw. If the passenger door won't open, there's a lot of hidden damage. I wouldn't be surprised if they wrote a $10-$12k estimate on that car.
I actually work for Onstar's competitor, so I was used to the scripts they go through, but it was totally different obviously from the other side of the computer screen. Checked to see if I was ok, asked if I needed an ambulance, dispatched police immediately. Very professional, and useful as I was in no shape to start dialing 911.

Interesting! Who is OnStar's competitor?

My company provides telematic services for a slew of OEMs including BMW, MB, Lexus, Toyota, and Hyundai upcoming. You probably know them as BMW Assist, Teleaid, Safety Connect/Enform and BlueLink (new).

Glad you're OK!

I came so close to an accident yesterday. My hubby and I were driving down a back road and just rounded the corner when my husband said oh no, just as this truck passed my car he rounded the same corner we just rounded and a pile of pallets slid off his truck right behind me and they all ended up in my lane! WHEW If I would have been 3 seconds later rounding that corner those pallets would have landed on my car!

All things considered I am EXTREMELY thankful it wasn't worse...could have turned out badly. Seat belts save lives.

The pics show front end damage that doesn't look too bad, but I couldn't shift the car out of D and the passenger door won't open. Hoping for the best but prepping for the worst.

Please drive safe everyone!

PS - Onstar came on immediately and I cannot say enough good about them. Professional and very effective...police arrived very soon after.
Man that's some scary stuff. Really sorry about your car but glad you came out with only a relatively minor injury.

This is pretty much how my '69 Chevelle was totaled in 1990. Very similar circumstance. Sucks.

Take care of your hand and let us know what happens with your car.

Glad you are OK. Let us know what the insurance agents say. Sucks to have your car hit.

Glad you're OK and I hope everything works out with repairing or replacing your ride.

Meanwhile on the KIA forum:

Side Impact by Domestic Car Owner
Some crazy ass american muscle car driver came outta no-where and wrecked my KIA Forte in the limited edition spicy-red color. I wonder if the insurance will pay for the mods. I mean I spent like $30 on new wheel covers.
