I switched to the SCT after I my Diablosport Predator burned up. My stock tune was lost in the Predator, but Ted Jannetty said that he could staighten it out. I ended up having some trouble when I went to upload a custom tune with the SCT but after about 2 hours on the phone with Ken at SCT he had me going. The old tuner had left some corrupt files. I would definitely call Ken on this one.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and how they got around it.

Thank you,

I had the same issue, but my car is brand new.. No previous owners.
(2012 L99 from the factory)
I was wondering if when it says "Waiting for Timeout Security" if thats when its reading the stock tune?
I am exchanging the unit for another as SCT Tech feels its a bad unit..

I don't think you have to have the orig SCT tuner. It's the other way around. An SCT tuner will only work with one car unless you reload the orig tune back to the orig car. Or you can send it back to SCT have it reset.

SCT device messes up the check sums, is the car a L99? If so try pulling out the TCM fuse and retry. On my car I had a custom tune that was installed with SCT and it would error out reading the tune with hptuners software right after reading the trans tune. I could then remove the fuse so that it lost comunication with the TCM and it would read the ECU tune just fine. So the support team at hptuners said SCT always messes up the checksums for some reason and can not be supported, but pulliing the TCM fuse you could at least change the engine tune. It may be worth trying but no gaurantee. Good luck, let know how you resolve the issue.
