Yes, and some are saying the reason it came out kind of gray looking was the marking compound they used to check the tooth pattern on the gear setup. I just know I had some silver in mine and not the good kind and it was all over the magnetic plug. I still felt better having changed it and the stuff isn't that expensive.

I also changed out my tranny fluid and rear diff with Royal Purple...took about 1 hour to do both.
Did you use Synchromax in the tranny or the 75W-50? |

I used 75-90 synthetic for the tranny. It took me about 3 hours due to having some stupid issues that I should have solved from the beginning with picking out the correct size tube to fill, but after squeezing the bottle for 3 hours I finally managed to get it all in.
If I would got it right from the beginning it would have been a 30 minute job. |

Damn, I missed this thread! Lol. I have 20+k on mine! Will do this next weekend!
Any clue on the size tubing to use to fill it back up? This will be my first attempt at a tranny fluid change. Also, how would a dealer know what kind you put in your car? If the whole royal purple thing is true?

I'll take my chances and use RP for both of the gears. I heard nothing but praises with others using RP for their gears and after trying it now I know what they are talking about. I also used to use RP for my motor oil but had to change to 5w40 because of the ethanol but thats another story. I dont see how the dealer can find out what fluid you are using.
I used a clear tube the size of mcdonald's straw. Never will do that again. I dont know what exact size you should use but the fill hole is kinda large, almost the size of a nickle or a little bigger. Maybe you can do a search on how the v8 guys did it. I know one of the v8 DIY tranny fluid thread show a really good description of what they used to fill. |

tranny is 1.9 bottles and the rear diff is 1 bottle. Save yourself a headache and buy the $6 gear oil pump, it will go much easier than squeezing the bottle!
