I went for an oil change at 3700 miles and the service manager at the dealership kinda laughed. I figured I was over due...We checked my car computer and it said my oil life was at 49%. I was then told by other service people to wait on the oil change until around 20%. Guess its more personal preference.

Many have had higher than normal oil consumption for the first 1500 to 2000 miles (a quart in the timeframe) on the v6. I changed mine at 2500 miles and then tore the oil filter apart looking for break-in fragments and found very little. I had burned between 1/2 and 1 qt oil in the 2500 miles. I changed to Mobil 1 gold cap full synthetic and Fram Toughguard filter (because they didn't have the Mobil 1 extended guard filter in stock) and the oil consumption stopped completely. Now have close to 6000 miles and the oil still looks clean where the factory oil was already darkening at 2500 miles. I'll change somewhere between 5000 and 7500 miles on this oil.

I didn't read the manual but I only used 5 quarts in my v6. Does the manual really say 6 quarts? I checked the oil level after the change and it was right in range.

I would not wait until the oil change monitor gets to low. Dirty oil has been attributed to timing chain wear and that is not good with the LLT engine.I changed mine to synthetic after the first 1500 miles. It was using a little more oil than I like, so I changed it to regular dino oil after the next 3000 miles. Ran that for another 3000 miles. Then changed back to full synthetic. Have about 3500 miles on that oil now and it has only lost about a quarter of a quart. Make sure you all check your oil regularly, low oil has caused some engine problems. Just my 2 cents.
