"Respect" +1IMO, the interiors of past GM vehicles haven't been up to par with what they're capable of. Unfortunately. There are a lot of reviews that say the recent Corvettes aren't either. I completely disagree. It's a gorgous interior - but if people want above and beond great with Corvette performance - then buy a Ferrari, or something. The general IS stepping up in the interiors dept., though. The latest Malibu is bloody amazing, and the Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solctice both have one helluva interior. SO, will Camaro have an interior worth sitting in devoid of all plastics? NO. Will it have a class-leading interior with plastics where necessary, and fitting? Undoubtedly Yes. |

This is what I was talking about with the Saturn Sky, check it out - He mentions some company-wide ideals with interiors, and overall apearance.

Spent 3 days car shopping with my wife recently. Drove many GM products. Chev Pont GMC Cad Saturn.....anyhoo.....The "fit and finish" did not seem quite there until you reached the upper trim levels. Example: Looked at several Trailblazers...The base models were not appealing at all. When you step into a model with a higher trim level it doesn't even seem like it is the same vehicle. I have owned Chev products for the last 17 years...The finish details have always seemed to lack.....To avoid this....I plan on buying the top trim level i can.

Plastics...
No newer GM vehicles owned here...the last being two 02 Camaros. Of course, not much had changed for fit and finish there...same old interiors...same old bland bla. As for my dads CTS, !!! I'll tell you right now that when I drove that Caddy, it felt like driving his Benz...a bank vault on wheels. The fit and finish was fantastic in the CTS with an increadible ride and interior. Comparing the CTS fit and finish to the 02 Camaro...now those were two seperate classes of cars! Being honest, I want the feel of the CTS interior w/ the exterior of the Camaro. Sorry...don't like or want the plain Jane interior anymore. I'm ready to move on up.

Well it is definitetly an issue and threat that the American car makers know about. It is definitily a growth potential. I would expect to see new standards of improvement for the gen 5s.

I have always been a truck guy, so the move to the Camaro will be different, will def keep the Avalanche though.
As for GM trucks, GMC has always had a better 'fit and finish' than Chevy. These new '08 Chevys trucks are kind of hard to look at on the outside and even harder on the inside. My best friend just got bought out of his 2005 Duramax lease a year early because everyone waited to see the '08s, hated them, now are picking up older models. So he let it go, since he was over his complete miles, and had a year to go (no shit). ANYWAY. He test drove three 08 Chevs and hated them all, loose pieces, bland interior, the loaded models were a little better, but way more money for not much improvement. He ended up getting a new 07 Tundra CrewMax. I would never buy a Toyota, purely because I am that loyal to GM. But it is a nice truck, you have never seen as much leg room as the crewmax.... we're talkin reclining back seat, its nuts. So in his opinion, GM trucks went the wrong direction in 08 and his business went to Toyota. But i am confident that the Camaro will be great inside, and if it isnt, i dont care because i will be in an 09 Camaro |

As for the inside, thats all him and a few posts i have seen online, i have not been close enough to judge that personally. The outside, the Sierras are not as bad, having the front chrome bumper. On the Silverado its the painted corners that get me. ESPECIALLY on the white ones, driving head on towards one it looks like two big buck teeth on the road. I also think doors and the bed sides just kind of end, maybe i need to have a trim option or somthing. I respect your opinion, but don't get me wrong, I would still buy one over any other company.

Realistically my use for a truck would go no further than a Colorado though, so I'd probably never own a full size. I think the front of the Tundra looks nice enough, but there's something really awkward looking to me in the general area where the cab meets the bed. I can't put my finger on it, but something just looks 'off' or 'wrong' about them. |

I'm not sold on the headlights. I like'em, but not 100%. Other then that - I love this truck! It looks so agressive to me. I was being tailgated by one today (don't ask), and I was a little intimidated, much like the Dodge Rams. Those are F'ing scary to be in front of...The grill's so big I could crawl through.
The interior is a much needed improvement, and the chassis is one of the finest ever supporting a Silverado. Both of which, IMO, earned it the truck of the year award more than the exterior. |
