That put down seems to be thrown at everything these days that is outside the proverbial old school box of hot rodding.

To the SS owner who is certain that 8 second ET's require at least 1800 hp, obviously you're wrong. I compliment you on your ride however there's a whole other performance world out there outside 5.0's, L99's, 392's, LS3's and the heavy cars they propel. Obviously there is more than one way to skin a cat.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Doesn't really matter to me what's under the hood, I dig fast cars, period.
The difference between 8.70 and 8.02 is several hundred horsepower. I stand by my previous comment. This car does not make the power to run an 8.02, or anything close to it. The AMS car is making close to 1400 and it's in the mid 8s (8.42@171) completely gutted with a full cage+net. (1181 wheel horsepower). They will need at least 300-400 more horsepower to get four more tenths out of the car. A heavy street car like the one at said dyno would need even more.

DragTimes show the fastest EVO at 8.23 sec./179 mph (http://dragtimes.com/Mitsubishi--Lan...ag-Racing.html). It is proported to be a 1040 HP car (http://dragtimes.com/Mitsubishi-Lanc...slip-7946.html). From the pictures, it doesn't appear to be the same car. I don't think it takes 1800 HP to go 8.02, but a serious weight reduction would be required and I'm not sure if it would be street legal after that. Notice the tubular frame (and other structural changes) on the 8.23 sec. car.

What exactly does that prove?? You don't have anything to do but surf YouTube?? Or think that awdmotorsports tells the truth?? Or something else?? Those cars where not first in anything. Ricer was first car in the 8s and was also the first in the 9s and 10s as well. Also fastest 4g63 car. There are faster cars on 4g64 blocks which are bigger engines. Ricer is still stock displacement. I was just trying to share in some fun I had at a Dyno day. Apparently some v8 guys can't be slower that a car called ricer. With a 4 cylinder. What a surprise. Guess I have to ask for the thread to get closed or something. Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

Also wasn't trying to show everyone a 8.02 car. I was told by some people at the Dyno day that's what it had ran. Personally I don't really care as I think drag racing is barely more exciting than golf. If you don't turn left and right it gets boring quick imho. But whatever.

It would take 1800hp in the stock interior with A/C stock weight evo I was referring to. That's roughly 1400whp through their powertrain, more then any of the big shops are pushing through a 4g as far as I'm aware.

Case in point, said car doesn't run 8.0anything much less 8.02

2350 pound race car early model (evo 3) vs 3400 pound street car (evo 8). Obviously it takes less to motivate the race car.
